Leah Lawrence November 2, 2012 Period: 3 What Is Left of Isabel

The windows buckled, the doors screeched with the absence of any force, and the lights flickered as if it were a dancing firefly. Isabel held her breathe, trying hard not to make a sound. She jumped at the sound of a pan hitting the floor. Isabel closed her eyes and held on tightly to herself. She wanted her mom, she wanted desperately to hear a familiar voice, she wanted her dog Spike who died two months ago in a car crash along with her younger sister; she knew he would be able to keep her safe. She hated being alone; things always seemed to go after her but when she tried to tell someone, no one believed her. Her own parents thought that it was her hallucinations that we caused from her post traumatic stress disorder that she was diagnosed with after the death of her sister. Isabel slowly creeped to the other side of the vault and braced herself for what was about to come next. A shadow appeared and within seconds, it grew bigger. She began to tremble uncontrollably and as tears began to fall down her rosey cheeks, she held herself even tighter. At first she only saw two legs but now she counted four. The figure was abnormal; something she has never seen fit for a human. It was extremely hairy and it had demonic red eyes. The next thing you know, a cat jumped out at her. She let out a yelp and then she woke up from her dream. The air was frigid; there were no doors, no lights flickering, and no buckling windows. Isabel reached of for her blanket, only to find rusty orange leaves scattered around her. She lifted up her body in a panic to scope out her surroundings and realized that she was the only breathing being surrounded by decomposing corpse in the middle of nowhere.
