The construction of this monastery is
turning heads around the world, with
Buddhist associations and others taking
notice. Kindred has taken hundreds of
photos and even filmed videos of the con-
struction to record. A webcam image of
the project site is updated every five min-
utes on Kindred’s Web site at www.kin-
dredconstruction.com.
At the project’s onset, the monks held
a traditional Precious Vase Consecration
Ceremony, attended by several Kindred
staff, including president, Dick Reid.
“During the ceremony, vases filled with
sacred objects were interred in a concrete
vault that will be located directly below
the great Buddha statue in the main
Shrine Hall, once the monastery is com-
plete,” Kindred Construction says.

their projects, and we wouldn’t have it
any other way,” the company says.

■ Advocacy – “As your advocate, Kindred

uphold traditional Tibetan Buddhism and
practices through teachings, meditation
and retreats, Randy Famulak explains.
According to the Thrangu Vajra Vidhya
Buddhist Association, the facility will
include:
■ Main Shrine Room – “In the main
shrine room, there will be a beautiful
statue of Shakymuni Buddha, 14 feet
tall,” the association says. “This will be a
wonderful focal point for practice and
blessings.”
■ Retreat Rooms – “There are plans for
eight retreat rooms at the monastery,
where practitioners can engage in short
and long-term retreats under the direc-
tion of (the) resident lama, Lama Pema
will adopt your goals and make them the
cornerstone of the project,” the company
says.
■ Accountability – “You have every right
to know how your money is being spent
and how your project is being managed,”

■ Library – “The library will include texts
from all traditions and in many lan-
guages: Tibetan, English, Chinese, and
others,” the association says. “It will be a
place for scholars to come and study.”
■ Personal quarters – “Adjacent to the
monastery will be a residential building
for visiting teachers,” the association
explains. “In particular, it will include a
room for His Holiness, the XVIIth Gyalwa
Karmapa. Through building such a room,
and inviting His Holiness to come, we
will plant the necessary karmic seeds
for His Holiness to visit and further bless
this monastery.”
“From the project's preliminary planning
stages, all the way through to the pro-
ject's final sign-off, we will keep you
[filled in].”
■ Safety – “Kindred's emphasis on safe
work sites further demonstrates our com-
mitment,” the company explains. ■
