The Giving Tree...Tis the Season to Give

It has been nice to read all the leaves as we have all taken a moment to write down what we are thankful for and fill the YMCA Thankful Trees. We are helping Safe Space and some very needy families in our community. How does it work? On our Christmas Tree you will find tags of needed items. Simply take a tag, purchase the gift, wrap it and tape the tag to it. Then return it to the YMCA so we can distribute it. Thank
you for your giving heart! With each of us helping, we can make a difference in

AQUATICS - SAFETY FIRST

As most of you know, Linda Anderson has been our Aquatics Director for the last several years. Recently, she had a great job offer in her field of study and she accepted. Linda will continue supporting the Y creating program brochures and assisting us with ads. Good luck Linda and thank you for your years of service! Janelle Quezada is our new Aquatics Manager and is responsible for all lifeguarding and the day-to-day operations of the Aquatics Center. Soon after graduating from the University of Montana with a wildlife biology degree, she came to work at the Butte Family YMCA lifeguarding and helping out in child watch and in our after-school programs. Janelle moved to Bozeman for a short time and then returned to the Y as a lead lifeguard and coordinated lifeguarding and much of the day-to-day operations. Janelles focus is to assure safety first for all aquatics users. We are increasing training hours for lifeguards and tightening safety protocols across the board. Congratulations Janelle!

On November 10 & 11th, the Tarpons hosted a Swim Meet at the YMCA. 237 swimmers registered to compete. Despite a big storm which dumped several inches of snow on the roads, nearly 220 swimmers and a few hundred spectators attended the Meet. There were teams from Missoula, Helena, Bozeman, and Billings competing against our very own Tarpons. The Meet was a great success and many of the swimmers had personal bests. Congratulations to the Tarpons and their swimmers for such a fun and exciting event!
