PLEASE DONATE EMPTY DRINK CANS

Avery Knight
Averys story written by her Mother:
I was allowed to hold Avery for just a few minutes before they took her to the NICU. I spent a lot of time isolated and crying. It was confirmed; she had Type A Long Gap Esophageal Atresia. We spent 3 months in the NICU in our hometown. I researched everything along the way. I joined online support groups and asked a lot of questions. They attempted the Folker Technique in Greenville but after waiting and waiting, our surgeon said that it had fallen apart and there was a leak he could not fix. He wanted us to get Avery a spit fistula and take her to D.C. in 6-12 months for a stomach pull up. Meanwhile, I stumbled across the website for Childrens Hospital Boston. I also watched a video on the Cleckler family and their successful treatment in Boston. Watching the video was like watching our own story with Avery. At that moment, I knew I wanted to go to Boston. I called Dr. Jennings on his cell phone and he said: Bring her here. We can fix her. We do this everyday. I called my husband and told him we were going to Boston and in a week we were on a medical flight Boston bound. Under Dr. Jennings direction, a team of surgeons and medical professionals fixed Averys esophagus. It took 6 months and there were many bumps along the way but I feel so blessed to have found Boston Childrens Hospital. What Ive written here is the abbreviated version of Averys story. I am sure any one of us could write a book and then some. Avery is now 2 years old and has had more recent surgeries and hospital stays in Boston. We are collecting drink cans to help this family and this special little girl! You can bring your empty drink cans to the home of Richard and Dianne Braswell for donation to this family. Quote from Averys Mom: Life is not a race-but indeed a journey. Be honest. Work hard. Be choosy. Say Thank-you, I love you, and great job to someone each day. Go to church, take time for prayer. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh. Let your handshake mean more than pen and paper. Love your life and what youve been given, it is not accidental-search for your purpose and do it as best you can. Dreaming does matter. It allows you to become that which you inspire to. Laugh often. Appreciate the little things in life and enjoy them. Some of the best things really are free. Do not worry, less wrinkles are more becoming. Forgive, it frees the soul. Take time for yourself-plan for longevity. Recognize the special people youve been blessed to know. Live for today, enjoy the moment.
