The first annual Mr. Pharmacy competition was held Heart in Lincoln
January 15th —and it was a huge success. The contest-
ants were men from each of the four pharmacy classes, February 11th: Next
and they competed in a variety of events including: ASP general meeting
Formalwear, hobbywear, talent, and also a Q&A ses-
sion. The competition was judged by our own faculty March 3rd: Last day

tion afterwards is $210

After the display of fashion, talent, and overall knowledge a winner was finally
decided. And the winner is….Adam Schulte!!

A big congratulations to Adam and all of our manly and pharmaceutically inclined
nominees. And also a big thanks goes out to the committee who organized the whole
fundraiser. It was a big hit and great success.
* NPA/SPAN is fast approaching! This meeting, although starting
early in the morning, is a great opportunity to watch the legislative
part of pharmacy. This annual meeting is being held in Lincoln, Ne
on March 31st, and is the legislative meeting for 2009. Contact Guy
Perkins with any questions concerning this meeting.

Habitat for Humanity will be on March 21st from 8:30 am—12:30 pm.
Please meet in Deglman Circle at 8:15 am. Also, please sign up on the
volunteer board at http://pharmacy.creighton.edu/asp/volboard.aspx if you are
planning to attend.

Do you want a job after you graduate? Are you cold? Do you need a vaca-
tion? If the answer to any or all of these questions was yes, then there is a solution—
attend the 2009 APhA national meeting in San Antionio! The meeting is April 3rd—
6th. Registration is currently going on and the cost is $170… if you register before
March 4th. Registration fees go up to $210 if you register after that date. Registration
is easy, just go to http://www.aphameeting.org/ and fill out the required infor-
mation. Also, a side note for P1’s—if you have not received your official APhA-ASP
registration card, you must call APhA headquarters to obtain your official member-
ship number. Headquarters contact information is found at www.pharmacist.com.
And while you’re registering for the meeting, make sure to sign up for reim-
bursement that Dean Bradberry is graciously offering to us for this meeting. This is a
great opportunity to take advantage of.
This meeting is a great way to network with professionals from all over the
country in all areas of pharmacy; not to mention networking with members of your
class. It also provides you with the opportunity to obtain EPE credit in an out of
Omaha setting!

Congratulations to all that were in atten-


dance at the January meeting—you are
now all trained to give Katy’s Kids presen-
tations! Katy’s Kids is a great way to get
involved in the community and presenta-
tions also count toward EPE service credit.
It’s a fun and easy way to get involved and
provide useful and lifesaving information
to kids; what could be better then that?
Be watching out for dates that presenta-
tions will be given, and if you’re interested
in either A) presenting B) taking pictures
or C) being Katy herself make sure that
you sign up on the volunteer board found

Member of the Month


January’s MOM’s are Vince Murphy and Phyllis
Arakaki. A big thanks to Vince for all of his work
over break with the PharmCare reports and also
to Phyllis for all of her work to organize the first
annual Mr. Pharmacy competition.
