Technical Guidelines

1. DATE AND VENUE


The Totally Smashed!!! Combined Age Category Badminton Tournament will be held at Father Martinez Activity
Center, La Salle Green Hills Campus on February 28, 2009 from 8am until closing.

2. ORGANIZATION
2.1. The Technical Committee will be responsible for the technical organization of the tournament. The decision of
the Committee in all matters regarding the tournament will be final.

3. RULES
3.1. The tournament will be held in accordance with the current Rules of the International Badminton
Federation (IBF).

3.2. This tournament is an alumni fellowship event in connection with the Homecoming celebration of the Jubilarian
49ers, thus no protests will be entertained.

3.3. The Technical Committee will deal with unforeseen incidents not covered by these Rules.

4. EVENTS
4.1. Men's Doubles: Combined ages 49 & below, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90-99 and 100 and above

4.2. Ladies' Doubles: Combined ages 49 & below, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90-99 and 100 and above

4.3. Mixed Doubles: Combined ages 49 & below, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90-99 and 100 and above

4.4. In the event that certain events and age groups are not filled, the Technical Committee will make the
proper modifications to the age groups and inform those participants which will be affected. The
affected participants may then adjust their entry/ies according to the new age groups.

5. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRIES


5.1. Open to all Alumni/Alumnae and/or currently enrolled students, Parents, Christian Brothers, Faculty,
Administrators of any Lasallian school.

5.2. All pairs must consist of at least one (1) Alumni/Alumnae and a currently enrolled student, Parent, Christian
Brother, Faculty, Administrator of any Lasallian school.

5.3. NO current and/or former national badminton team players will be eligible.

5.4. NO professional badminton players, trainers and/or coaches will be eligible.

5.5. Maximum number of entries per age category is eight (8) pairs. Minimum number of pairs per age category is
three (3) pairs.

5.6. An individual can play in a maximum of two (2) events but must still abide by the official schedule.

5.7. The Organizing and Technical Committees will make a best-effort attempt to group similar skill-leveled
pairs together to ensure competitive matches.

5.8. Deadline for submission of entries is on February 21, 2009.


6. COMPETITION RULES
6.1. No qualifying round. No cross over.
Each group will have 4 pairs. All groups per category will undergo a round robin series. For age categories with
more than 4 pairs. You will be grouped into two (2) groups. Then each group will undergo a round robin series
without any cross over. The winner in their group will be the champion.
6.2. Scoring
The first one to reach 21 wins the game. In case of a decision game, the third set will be played only till 11. The
first one to reach eleven points wins the game. There will be not setting.
6.3. Shuttle Cock
The shuttle cocks to be used will be feather shuttles of tournament quality.

7. WALK-OVERS
7.1. Any entry that concedes a walk-over will receive a score as if they did not score any point during the match.

7.2. Players must confirm presence with match control and stay at staging area once their match is called.

7.3. Players will only be given 5 minutes from final call by match control before their match will be considered a
walkover.

8. AWARD CEREMONIES & FELLOWSHIP


8.1. Awarding Ceremonies will be held immediately following the last match of the tournament.

8.2. Fellowship will follow after.

9. INDEMNITY
The Organizing Committee and its appointed officials will not be held responsible for any injuries or mishaps that may
occur during the competition or as a result of participation in the tournament.

10. OTHER MATTERS


In all other matters not covered by the preceding rules, the decision of the Organizing Committee will be final.
