Congratulations also to Jane Kelloe, Officiating Technical Support Group Chair and Essex Met Umpiring Secretary, who received an England Netball Long Service Award. Wealden top the Division 1 table with 27 points with Academy in hot pursuit with 26 points. Whitton are keeping in contention being only 4 points behind the leader. Division 2 is as exciting with Poly and Crystal Palace on 30 points. Poly NC is the official leader, as they nudged ahead on goal difference. Newly-formed Eclipse is leading the U16s with 30 points at this point in the competition with a 100% record of 6 wins out of 6 matches. They are closely followed by Telstars with 26 points and Academy with 23 points. A new format is being trialled for the league this season, where each club plays each other once, then the league is split into a top and bottom half, like SuperLeague. Those clubs in each half of the draw play each other again and only those in the top half have the chance of progressing to the U16 National Clubs finals. Kent Netball Launch Volunteer Awards Kent Netball launched their first Volunteer Awards this year, and the proud winner of the Young Volunteer Award went to Justine McAvoy from Comets Netball Club. Justine began her netball career at 14 years old when she joined the Medway Junior League. Only a year later, she started umpiring at the league and assisting with the coaching of the younger players. She also took on the responsibility of running the after school netball club at her school, delivering coaching and umpiring at matches. Through her school volunteering she joined England Netballs Pass on your Passion scheme. Justine has volunteered at Kents High 5 Netball Finals, the Superleague Final and more recently at the first Back to Netball festival in Kent through this scheme . Justine has also recently joined England Netballs Youth Advisory Group (YAG) and she is always willing to give her views and ideas about the sport she loves. As part of the YAG, she was responsible for behind the scenes pictures and writing the Which Player article for the England Netball magazine. Justines passion for netball is evident in everything she does and she has achieved such a lot with her volunteering. She gives up much of her time to help with young players and is an inspiration to them and her peers.
