Research & Development

Phytochemistry: This division does the isolation and development of active ingredients from herbs for various nutraceutical and therapeutic applications. Synthetic Chemistry : Sami Labs has set up a strong synthetic chemistry division to manufacture some of the synthetically derived nutraceuticals. This division currently works on:

- Development of drug and drug intermediates - Development of selenium amino acids - Development of chiral molecules - Development of peptides for cosmeceuticals/
Analytical R&D: It is a key function in the R&D and it supports all the developmental activities. Their important roles are: Method development Validation Development of specification for all products And Quality control issues

Research & Development

Formulations : This department develops natural cosmetic products that have properties to rejuvenate and protect the skin from environmental pollution, toxic chemicals and Ultraviolet A and B radiation resulting in wrinkling, hyper pigmentation (excessive tanning) and inflammations (sunburn). The department also develops dosage formulations in capsules, tablets etc for the nutraceutical products. Biotechnology: Sami Labs ventured into Biotechnology in the year 2000. Lactospore is the first commercial production using the in-house R&D technology. This division is currently involved in the production of high-value enzymes as well as other probiotics . Tissue Culture : The scientists here develop highyielding varieties of medicinal plants & multiply them through tissue culture techniques in the laboratory.

SAMI initiated almost a decade ago with a handful of farmers, a special form of cultivation for the farmers in and around Salem which is now carried over to many locations in India & abroad. Today, the Sami Model of Coleus Cultivation has grown into a co-operative venture with more than 10,000 farmers involved directly and thousands of farm labourers indirectly in whole of India.

Sami Labs is extending them support by facilitating bank loan, crop insurance and a buy back arrangement.
