Homicide 1249 Dickinson St SE 12-124705 On December 29, 2012 at approximately 10:55pm, Officers from the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to the report of a shooting that occurred at 1249 Dickinson St. SE. Upon arrival, Officers located four (4) victims suffering from gunshot wounds inside the residence. Three victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their gunshot injuries. One victim sustained life threatening injuries, while the other 2 victims injuries were not considered life threatening. The fourth victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, and was transported to Blodgett Hospital for an autopsy. The deceased has been identified as Jason Cherry DOB: 8-6-78 Victims have stated that there were 3 or 4 suspects, and described them as young black males. One suspect is a light skinned black male 55-57 having a short afro and wearing a red bandana that covered his face. Another suspect is described as 60-62 and wearing all black. No other suspect descriptions were given. At this point, the motive for the shootings has not been determined, and no suspects are in custody. The Grand Rapids Police Department Major Case Team is investigating.
