Cummins Power Generation called upon for Professional Retailing Power

Established in 1995, HomePro Center Public Company Limited was started as a joint venture with Land And Houses Group, American International Assurance Co. Ltd and the Sarasan family business. HomePros business began as a retail operation in home improvement, offering goods and services for the construction, fabrication, and renovation sectors. The company opened its first branch in Rangsit in 1996, and currently has 44 branches set up across Thailand, 17 of which are based in capital Bangkok, and the rest in the out skirting provinces. The company has more than 6,000 employees in its employment. In 2005, Market Village was incorporated as a HomePro subsidiary, where a prime retail complex was set up in Hua Hin housing a HomePro branch, Tesco Lotus, SB Furniture, Sporting World, restaurants, cinemas, bowling center, banks and a variety of retail shops.

Running fluent retail operations so as to provide seamless and convenient service for their customers, HomePro relies on power support that is efficient, costeffective, and backed by a good aftersales servicing to back up its day to day management and running at their points of sales. The organization originally planned to continue buying generator sets from local and Chinese OEM suppliers, as these gave them the flexibility of shorter delivery time, and at lower costs. However, the OEM sets have a high frequency of breakdowns and lack a competent level of backup servicing needed during periods of system failures. These shortfalls often resulted in loss in productivity, and caused mounting frustration for the customer, and ultimately proved to be deterring factors for HomePro to continue using OEMs. Well regarded in the market for their reliable products and efficient aftermarket support, Cummins DKSH Thailand was approached at the start of 2011, to explore alternative plans using Cummins Power Generation products and expertise. The Cummins DKSH Thailand team, led by Mr Vinai Anannatthaphong (Senior Sales Engineer) and Mr Pomphet Saengthep (Project Engineer) immediately went into work. Their immediate challenge was to satisfy customers expectations of quicker order fulfillment, and at competitive price packages, but after several rounds of work-throughs with the Wuhan plant that manufactures Cummins Dynasty products, these issues were deftly resolved.

HomePro was more than happy with what they were presented with their gensets will be supplied and installed in shorter lead times than the competitors, and they will be covered by a warranted aftermarket support that extends into a 5 years maintenance contract. HomePro awarded the project to Cummins DKSH Thailand in November 2011, with complete assurance and satisfaction that they now enjoy a marked improvement to their work processes and productivity, a more efficient use of manpower, and with time and cost savings to boot. To say the least, this will not be the first and last time that the customer will be calling on Cummins Power Generation to deliver effectual and advantageous power support.
