Adrian Meyers Math Report on Statistics.

For The project I was doing our question was do boys play sports more than girls? and because enjoy is very general we decided that if you enjoyed your sport you do it at least 3 times a week and if you do your sport for at least an hour. We collected our data fairly by taking 3 boys and 3 girls at random from each class and asking them how many times a week they did sports and for how long. (we also asked them if they liked the sport)

So our Hypothesis for our question Do boys play sports more than girls? was that boys did enjoy sports more than girls because of the amount of sports we see boys playing outside. I chose this topic because I thought it would be cool to know if girls actually liked sports as much as boys do because the stereotype is that boys play sports a lot more than girls and that girls dont like to play sports. Mean: boys and girls: 4.9/ we added up all the numbers from each person and then divided it by the amount of people who took the survey(30). Median:5/ we crossed out numbers in a line from both sides till we got to the middle Mode:4/ the most popular number Range: 9/ we subtracted the smallest number from the biggest number

Do Boys Enjoy Sports More than Girls?

From the data we collected it seem that the information told us that boys won and do play more sports than girls but only by one vote: B15-G14 but it is very close so we think that it would have been about equal if we asked another person and it would have been the same.

To make our data equal we asked 3 girls and 3 boys from each class at random. In total we had 30 people take the survey and we believe that the data will at up to an even and fair amount. As we know from analyzing the data we collected that the votes were fair and gave us the right data.

I think that the 2 graphs above (boys sport data and girl sport data) are better than the one at the beginning because i think it is more accurate than that one above because you can compare the two graphs easier and it show the data separate and makes sure you know what you are looking at. It is also clearer and you can really see what the data represents and you can even tell just by looking at the graph that does the most sports.

In conclusion boy with 3.13 as there mean do more sports than girls with 2.93 as there mean. This shows that boys play more sports than girls. But the data can be changed if we asked the entire class because that would mean that there would be more data to analyze. From what we thought that boys played a lot more sports than girls the reality is that they play about the same amount of sports and that if different people answered the survey the data could be a lot different and that girls could play more sports than girls. But From the data we collected Boys do more sports than girls in y8. This is my conclusion of do boys play more sports than girls.
