CHEMCON - 2011

CHEMCON-2011, the 64 Annual Session of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers will be held during December 27 - 29, 2011 in the city of Bangalore, which is simultaneously the science center and the technology hub of the nation. The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) is the apex professional body of Chemical Engineers in the country instituted in the year 1947. The technical extravaganza of IIChE, CHEMCON, continues to encourage academic activities to help students as well as teachers to continuously develop their skill to meet the demands of present society. CHEMCON-2011 brings together stakeholders of Chemical Engineering profession; students, teachers, researchers and industry practitioners to discuss current trends and future developments in the field of Chemical Engineering. The theme of CHEMCON-2011 is to highlight the synergistic partnership of Chemical Engineering with Biology, Nanoscale Science, Functional Materials, etc. Focus on innovations in chemical industry will be an integral part of technical deliberations at CHEMCON - 2011. Sri Dhirubhai Ambani Commemoration Day will be celebrated on December 28 as a tribute to the great visionary.

Bangalore Regional Centre

Bangalore Regional Centre (BRC), established in 1961, is one of the oldest regional centers of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers. Chemical Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Science nurtured the Regional Centre. The experts from leading research and technical education institutes, as well as several industries contribute to the wide variety of activities of the center. The chemical engineering professionals have tremendously benefitted from various courses in cutting edge areas of the time, such as computer-aided design in 70's and biotechnology in 90's. Several activities related to career and professional development of students from the engineering colleges in the region have been undertaken by BRC. Currently, BRC has 145 corporate members. There are seven private engineering colleges offering Chemical Engineering course coming to the ambit of Bangalore Regional Centre (BRC); Siddaganga Institute of Technology, M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, R.V. College of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, M.V.J. College of Engineering, B.M.S. College of Engineering, and Adhiyamaan College of Engineering. All the colleges have student chapters and are affiliated to BRC.
