Miscellaneous **KidCare & Medicaid Application Assistance: There is a Community Health Worker, Jo Ethridge at the Franklin County Health Department in Apalachicola on every Thursday from 8:00 am 4:00 pm. She will be at the Franklin County Annex (Carrabelle Clinic) on Tuesday, January 15 & Wednesday, January 23. Ms. Etheridge is available to assist families with applying for KidCare as well as Medicaid. Come in to see her. You can also reach her at (850)624-3640. No appointment is necessary. Apalachicola Community Services Center also has someone to help with applying for services such as Medicaid, KidCare, and food & cash assistance. James Rutherford can assist you at the center. It is located at 192 14th Street, Apalachicola, FL. They are open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday. Appointments are scheduled from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday thru Friday. GED CLASSES
The Franklin County Adult Education Courses will be offering GED classes at the Franklin County School in the near future. The next GED Test will be given Feb. 4 & 5, 2012 at the Franklin County School library at 6:00pm. To register for the test or for classes, contact Maxine Creamer @ 670-4481. The Franklin County Adult Education Courses do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, National origin, age, handicap, or marital status. **The Federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act states that children & youth who lack a fixed, regular, & adequate nighttime residence are considered homeless. If, due to a loss of housing, a child must live in a shelter, motel, vehicle, campground, on the street, in abandoned buildings, or doubled-up with relatives or friends, then he/she is eligible to receive services provided under the McKinney-Vento Act.
