Area Manager (January 2009 to January 2011) Sulfuric Acid Plant & Waste Acid Neutralization Plant (WANP) Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corporation Duties & Responsibilities: Manage the operation of a acid plant with an average throughput of 1,800MTon/day through the Monsanto-Mitsui double contact sulfuric acid plant Monitor and control SO2 emission acceptable by local and national standard Manage the neutralization and treatment of waste acid (310m3/day) before discharging its effluent to the sea (Arsenic = <0.5 ppm, pH = 5 to 9) Direct the production of high quality gypsum as a by-product (10MT/day) Ensure the implementation of Environmental Management (ISO 14001) and Occupational Safety and Health Management (ISO 18001) Policies Coordinate with maintenance personnel for abnormalities observed on equipment during the shift Investigate and make correction on high concentration of impurities on the process stream and the final product Conduct safety meetings/talks to subordinates regularly
