The mobile subscriber base (GSM and CDMA combined) has grown from under 2 m at the end of FY00 to touch 919 m at the end of March 2012.Telecom sector has continued to emerge as the prime engine of economic growth, contributing to nearly 2% of the Indian GDP. Company has adopted IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) for consolidation of accounts from the financial year 2010-11 onwards. The company Ranked as the No.1 Service Brand and No.3 in the overall rankings in the annual Brand Equity's Most Trusted Brands Survey. IDEA Cellular is an Aditya Birla Group Company, it is the 3rd largest mobile services operator in India with wireless revenue market share at 15 % in Q1 FY 2013, and subscriber base of over 117 million. Idea has consistently stayed ahead of the industry in VLR reporting, and has the 3rd highest base of active subscribers. Ideas strong growth in the Indian telephony market comes from its deep penetration in non-urban & rural markets. It has the highest share of rural subscribers as a percentage of total subscribers, amongst other GSM players. Idea won the Best Brand Campaign at the esteemed World Communication Awards 2011. It also recently won 3 Awards at the ET Telecom Awards 2012, in the following categories Customer Experience Enhancement, Excellence in Marketing and Innovative products, respectively. In the financial year Sales turnover of Bharti airtel is 41603.80 crore and idea cellular 19275.32 crore. Profit margin airtel is better than idea, airtel profit margin is 13.77 percentage and idea it is 2.99. Bharti airtel is more investor friendly in terms paying dividend compared to idea. Last year Bharti airtel dividend payout ratio is 7.70, but idea cellular was not paying dividend in past 5 years. EPS of Bharti airtel higher than idea, airtel EPS is 15.09 in the last financial year, but in the case of idea cellular it is 1.74.
