Auto Breaking and Entering
December 2012
Activity Summary:
There were twenty-nine (29) Auto B&Es reported in December 2012. There were twenty-six (26) Auto
B&Es reported during the same time frame in 2011. This is a 12% increase from 2011 to 2012.
The zone with the highest number of incidents was East 3 with twelve (12), or 41%.
The reporting area with the highest number of incidents was D3 with ten (10), or 34%.
Twenty (20), or 69%, took place at residential locations.
Nineteen (19), or 66%, of the incidents involved unforced entry.
Ten (10), or 34%, of the incidents were discovered on a Saturday.
Ten (10), or 34%, were discovered between the hours of 0800 to 1159 and ten (10) between the hours of 1600
to 1959.
Thirteen (13) incidents are open for further investigation, seven (7) have been closed with leads exhausted
and nine (9) have been closed cleared by arrest.
Historically, HPD has an average of 29 Auto B&Es during the month of December with a current threshold of 19 to
39. This December, we were within the threshold with 29 reported Auto B&Es.
Forecast for December:
The average number of Auto B&Es for the month of December is 29 plus or minus 10. By the end of December,
there is a 68% chance HPD will have received between 19 and 39 reported Auto B&Es.
