MINUTES

2008 – 09 SAC Assembly - Meeting 4 01/07/09

I. Call to Order

2008-09 President Alexander Saxton called to order the regular meeting of the Student
Affairs Council Assembly at 9:05 on 01/07/08 in the Auditorium.

II. Roll call

III. Approval of Minutes from Last Meeting


The minutes from last Assembly meeting have been approved.

IV. Open Issues


I. Welcome back (President Alexander Saxton)
▪ Welcome back!
▪ A committee addressing student rights will be established shortly. All
interested students should find it worthwhile to attend.

V. Statements by Executives
I. President Alexander Saxton
▪ [As above]
II. Vice-President Anouk Benseler
▪ There is a multitude of Fix-the-Field fund raising activities, such as A
Knight Out, Taste of the Town, 50/50 Draw, Front Hall Merchandise,
etc. Show your support!
III. Treasurer Sam Zivot
▪ If you have any issues concerning the use of your funding, do not
hesitate to approach the Treasurer.
IV. ESD Ellie Graham
▪ Prom Committee has been decided, and shall be posted on the SAC
Board
V. ISD Fiona Haxho
▪ Be sure to attend the fund raising activities for the field.
VI. Secretary Carol Xiong
▪ Space has been allotted specifically for SAC sanctioned
organizations to post advertisements on a rotating basis, each
display a fortnight long.
▪ We are also looking for donations of a small sturdy box which can
act as our Communications Box.

VI. Statements by Senators


I. Grade 9
▪ There were no statements from the Grade 9 Senator
II. Grade 10
▪ Inquiries: “What is it we are doing that the student body is actually
caring about? We should really address the issue of communication.”
A survey was suggested.

▪ In response: Secretary Carol Xiong suggested to resurrect a survey
that she created last year as PTA Senator, which suitably addresses
communications, and involvement.
▪ Grade 10 Senator Daniel Sorek proposed to ESD Ellie Graham to
head a survey for Prom, and other “big social events” in addition to a
broader survey for the school.
III. Grade 11
▪ There were no statements from the Grade 11 Senator
IV. Grade 12
• There were no statements from the Grade 12 Senator

VII. Discussion

• If an individual has a good idea to fund-raise for the field, can he/she do it?

▪ Come to our Wednesday morning field meetings to find out.

VIII. Question Period

• What is the cost of a footprint on the lockers?

▪ $2-$4

◦ What has come of the maintenance list?

• It's been passed on to the chief caretaker/VPs

▪ Grade 10 Senator: Has the date for Semi been fixed?

◦ We're negotiating between Wednesday or Thursday. There seem to be conflicts


on both days.

◦ Grade 10 Senator: May we attend Taste of the Town?

▪ Unfortunately not. Alcohol will be served, so you must be 19 or above.

▪ Grade 11 Senator: Is it possible to have a movie buyout to raise money?

• That would be tricky... likely not.

• Grade 12 Senator: What is the Prom seating going to be like?

• You can sit at a table of 12 with people you choose. Once you submit the desired
seating plan for your table, we will officially assign the respective seats to the
corresponding people.
