VMware vSphere could potentially give you a massive 91% lower TCO over two years than Microsoft Hyper-V*. A solution that streamlines and automates routine maintenance tasks can increase uptime and save an organisation serious time and money.
//TECH TIP TWO
With VMware vSphere you get: Higher virtual machine density; fewer physical servers to support (although even at lower densities we deliver the best TCO) Faster provisioning, upgrades and patching Integrated storage management for easier backup
Did you know?
Installing your operating system on a virtualized server is just the same as doing it manually only much quicker.
TCO rules.
Total cost of ownership (TCO) is the ultimate measure to compare IT infrastructure platforms and their relative suitability for your business.

1. Physical to Virtual (P2V) The built-in VMware Converter transforms and consolidates physical servers into virtual machines. Using the wizard-driven interface, it's as simple as pointing at the server icon and clicking. You can then import existing VMware and third-party application virtual images. 2. Build from scratch You can also create virtual machines from the ground up. To do this, you just have to specify the number of CPUs, memory, disks and network interfaces you want to assign to the VM. You can assign from 1-64 CPUs and also 1-1000GB of memory per VM. 3. Import virtual appliances These are ready-to-run virtual machines packaged with an operating system and software application. They make it simpler to acquire, deploy and manage applications by eliminating underlying hardware and operating system dependencies.

1. Virtualization Why? To maximise use of your existing resources This is the necessary rst step to prepare for cloud services by creating exible, virtualized pools of IT resource 2. Cloud Computing Why? To absorb data and computing demand spikes. Enables you to move IT infrastructure from a capital expense to an operating expense. With a developed cloud computing strategy you can: Take advantage of a hybrid cloud model. You choose which services to move to the public cloud, while keeping the business applications and data you want within your own secure virtualized environment Use the public cloud, provided by accredited VMware vCloud Service Providers, who also build their infrastructure with our market-leading toolset. You can have the same security, management and compliance policies in place, whether its the public or private cloud. This provides the ongoing exibility to move workloads to the public cloud and back. Discover more about making your journey to the cloud easier on our SMB blog: blogs.vmware.com/smb
