of the book of Ephesians. This week we will be examining chapter 3. Remember, we meet at 10:00 am and 6:30 pm. We cover the same material in each session. This is a chapter-bychapter and verse-by-verse study of this important New Testament book. Study questions are provided. Why not join us this week? There are always two sides to any issue unless it happens to involve us personally.
FINAL THOUGHT:
SCOTTS THOUGHTS
Over the past couple of weeks we have been looking at John 4:24 and what it means to worship God in spirit and in truth. First we looked at the fact that this is the only worship the Father seeks. Last week we explored the difference between physical and spiritual focus in our worship. What does Jesus mean when he says we must worship in truth? Is this a statement of doing things the right way? Is it a call for us to adhere to a specific pattern of what we do or how we do it? If you read my article last week, you will probably know I dont think either of those are correct. In this passage, Jesus has gone out of his way to establish the difference between physical and spiritual. It seems unimaginable that Jesus would tell the woman that the location for worship doesnt matter but here is a specific way worship has to look. Please dont misunderstand, I am not saying that there are no boundaries. Neither am I saying that there are not things that are inappropriate for worship. I am saying Truth in this passage is about us, not about what we do but about who we are and more importantly us recognizing who God is. I believe Jesus is calling us to true worship, to truthful worship. When we recognize that worship is not an event we participate in on Sundays, but a life we choose when we surrender to Jesus. True worship is defined in Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your true and proper worship. Lord, help us to focus our eyes on Jesus. Help us to see you as you are and be overwhelmed by You so that our only response is to fall to our knees and declare your worthiness with our lives spent in worship.

Last week in Childrens Church we learned about Cain and Abel. There are many very important lessons we can take from the story of Cain and Abel. The main lesson we focused on is that we are to give God the best of what he have; not just enough to get by! This passage is not about just our offering, but our whole lives! Genesis 4

*To start off this New Year, I have set a goal for the growth of our Childrens Program. The first part of reaching this goal is to attain a steady group of volunteers. I hope to have a unit of faithful volunteers to offer their energy and one hour on Sunday morning to minister to the kids. I plan to form a schedule of two volunteers per Sunday morning, in a rotation. So if you join us, you will not have to miss church every Sunday. You would know in advance which Sundays you would be helping out downstairs. Please take the time to pray about this opportunity, if you feel like God is calling you to this ministry, please contact me! I promise that through Your service to this ministry, You will in turn be truly blessed through it as well. Hannah (606) 524-5503 hemartin@kcu.edu

Ruth Pifer
We have been informed of the death of Ruth Pifer on January 19, 2013. Ruth had attained the grand age of 94 and had been living in Grayson, Kentucky. She was the wife of one of our former ministers, Lester. Brother Pifer served our congregation 1963-1966. We extend our sincere sympathy to the family.
WELCOME TO FIFTH AVENUE! At FACC, we focus on loving God, loving people, and turning the world upside down. We are happy you chose to worship with us today. We hope you return next week and bring your friends with you. If you would please take a few minutes to fill out a Silent Roll Call Card, located on the back of the pew, you can then place it in the offering plate as it is passed. Thank you. For more information about our great church, contact our minister, Brad Seevers at Brad@new-churches.org or call him at 740.550.9882. Have a great week and may God bless your life.
Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:
Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).
Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).
Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.
Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
