1 Denition
The Parallel Ringing (PRNG) feature simultaneously signals calls to two separate lines belonging to the same subscriber, e.g. a fixed line in the PSTN and a mobile number. The subscriber can accept the call on either of the two lines.

2 Mode of operation
The Parallel Ringing (PRNG) feature is of interest to customers who have two lines and want calls to reach them at all times under both numbers. These two lines could, for instance, be a fixed line in the PSTN and a mobile number. When the feature is active, every call to the user under the PSTN number is automatically rung on the mobile phone too. The user can answer the call at either of the two phones. The call is switched to the line at which the user first answers. The feature can be activated and deactivated by the operator or by the subscriber by means of subscriber controlled input. The subscriber can check on his or her telephone whether one of the feature variants is active for his or her line. The feature is assigned to ISDN subscribers on a service-specific basis for voice services. The maximum number of parallel calls that can be activated per access: Analog two per line ISDN two per B channel Other feature authorizations The following other authorizations can be granted in conjunction with the parallel ringing feature. Analog / ISDN The calling party is informed, optionally with or without indication of the called subscribers 2 number, when a call is forwarded to a parallel-ringing number. The operating company can assign selected called subscriber 1 the right to forward calls to otherwise blocked directory numbers (emergency call numbers, service numbers). ISDN Whenever the called subscriber 1 party makes an outgoing call, he or she is informed that the feature is active for that directory number. This authorization can only be assigned to ISDN basic access lines. The called subscriber1 party is informed of the fact that parallel ringing is being performed. The called subscriber 2 is informed of the directory number of the called subscriber 1 y, or in the case of multiple call forwarding, the called subscribers 1 number and that of the last forwarding party. Code point blocking When a directory number is entered by means of subscriber controlled input, the CP (coordination processor) checks whether it is a permitted destination number for parallel ringing. The following destination numbers are not permitted: numbers that are unknown to the CP (insofar as a directory number is administered in its own exchange; subscribers served by other exchanges are only checked as destinations on a partially qualied basis) numbers that are blocked for call forwarding at exchange level (for instance police and emergency numbers) numbers associated with a trafc type that is blocked for call forwarding

3 Subscriber controlled input

The feature can be administrated and used by subscriber controlled input. For the subscriber procedure, see: Analog subscriber ISDN subscriber GeoCENTREX Analog subscriber ISDN subscriber Subscriber controlled input functions Signaling method Analog Pulse Activate Deactivate Enter data Delete data Enter data and activate Delete data and deactivate Activate with/without data Feature use Status request Data request Status request with/without data Access code The access code for subscriber controlled input consists of a maximum of 6 characters or, for GeoCENTREX subscribers, a maximum of 5 characters. It can be formed from the symbols 5 , # and the service code (SC) with the digits 0 to 9. The operator can specify the character strings for the access code. Differences by pulse dialing The selected digits are not obligatory; other digits can be input (depending on the existing numbering plan). 1111 at the beginning of an input in place of 5 1112 at the beginning of an input in place of # 1113 at the beginning of an input in place of 5 # 5 as a disconnecting signal after the service code, not relevant # after the subscriber controlled input, not relevant X X X X X X X --X X X DTMF X X X X X X X --X X X ISDN Keypad X X X X X X X --X X X Funct. -----------------------

4 Call charge registration

Call charge registration is possible with: Automatic Message Accounting with Individual Call Charge Registration Pulse Metering Message Detail Recording (MDR) for GeoCENTREX Flat rate Automatic Message Accounting with Individual Call Charge Registration (AMA) and pulse metering can be combined. One or more call charge pulses can be generated for pulse metering. Charges for feature input and feature usage The charges for operator inputs, successful subscriber controlled input and feature usage are assigned to the subscriber. The following call charge registration is possible: Facility input by operator (FAIO) Facility input by subscriber (FAIS) Facility usage (FAU)

Call charges for connections are assigned as follows: the calling subscriber pays the charges for the connection up to the called subscriber the forwarding subscriber pays the charges for the connection up to the forwarded number destination

Note:
If charging for unsuccessful call attempts is active, then charges are also registered for setting up the call for parallel ringing of the B2 party, regardless of whether or not the B1 party answers.

5 Administration
The operator can perform all administration functions on the NetManager by means of user-friendly applications or MML commands. Feature authorization The network operator assigns authorization for the feature when requested by the subscriber.
