Elite Program starts

As part of our London 2012 legacy program, the PE dept has redeveloped our program for able, gifted and talented PE student. The new scheme is the Elite Potential Athlete Program (EPAP). Students are nominated by PE staff and have to set target both for themselves and for the school to support them. These targets are then reviewed three times a year. Those on the program then go on a 5 week course on being an elite athlete with partners Sporting Ambitions. The PE dept also deliver fitness conditioning programs, nutrition advice and lifestyle and time management to balance study with training. It is totally expected that students on the program will demonstrate superb attitude towards their sport and their education to stay on the program. The hope is this extra support with give the 28 students signed up so far the best chance for elite success.

SHS rugby players take on board England Training Session

With the RBS 6 Nations a key feature of the new year, England took to the training field in Leeds, and students from SHS were there to take on board some tips. In freezing conditions, Stuart Lancasters men were put through their paces, much to the interest of members of the schools Year 9 and 10 rugby teams, who themselves play both codes. After the session it was a great chance to meet the players. Abu Bhana is pictured with Tom Youngs
