Richland Technologies, LLC marks 5th anniversary of company founding

Hoping to follow up success by expanding engineering services and product development Exciting new projects could be announced in the near future

LAWRENCEVILLE, GEORGIA --- 25 January, 2013 --- Richland Technologies, LLC today celebrated its 5th anniversary as a leading provider of systems, software and hardware engineering services to the aerospace, defense, nuclear and space industries. A specialist in the development of high integrity safety-critical systems and performing commercial and military certifications, Richland Technologies was founded in 2008 by principal owners Dave Simpson and Leonid Sorkin to provide a consultancy service for other companies looking to set up RTCA-DO-178B software development processes. Two years later, the company had expanded its skill base to incorporate RTCA-DO-254 hardware development and certification projects and moved into larger office space to aid future expansion. Now, Richland Technologies employs more than 15 members of staff at its Lawrenceville offices working on numerous high prestige contracts to provide software and hardware development services to major avionics suppliers. The contracts range from small-scale, low-level safety certification services to fully independent software and hardware engineering projects. It has been a rapid rise, but one that has pleasantly surprised managing director Dave Simpson. He said: We are really proud of all that we have achieved in the last five years; the company has grown a lot faster than we expected. We are pleased with the partnerships we have formed with some great companies and the strength there gives us a base for expansion going forward.

One of the affiliations Richland Technologies will be looking to engage over the coming year will be the FACE (Future Airborne Capability Environment) Consortium, a professional group made up of U.S. industry suppliers, customers and users, which Richland Technologies joined in March 2012. Hosted by the Open Group, FACE seeks to create a technologically appropriate reference architecture that standardizes approaches, brings open standard solutions to avionics systems, reduces costs, and speeds up avionics development. Richland Technologies has, since its inception, been a developer and promoter of open systems architecture, particularly in the area of avionics processing platforms and as a member, is looking to begin developing applications for the consortium. Simpson also hopes to continue expanding both the engineering services and product development sides of the business and believes that 2013 could be an important year in the companys evolution. He said: We have some really exciting projects bubbling under the surface at the moment that we cant talk about just yet, but hopefully this is a big year in the companys expansion.
