I am friendly, polite, confident and articulate. I gained extensive experience of coordinating teams during the course of years of political and debating activity, sitting on the committees of several university societies and conducting two election campaigns. I possess good public speaking skills and can also produce high-quality written work, as demonstrated by contributions to the Daily Telegraph website as well as others such as Slugger OToole, ConservativeHomeUSA, The Commentator, and The Student Journals, where I was the first Contributor taken on. My own blog Dilettante has attracted attention from the mainstream media, recognition from the political blogging community and solicited written responses from senior political figures. I have contributed an article to Total Politics monthly Blogger Says column, and am also Editor-in-Chief of BullsEye, the current affairs magazine of the European Democrat Students. I have also been published in Crossbow, the journal of the Bow Group. I edit the popular non-party political website Open Unionism, and write a weekly column for Conservative Home. International Business Times Opinion Writer I was recruited to this successful city-based website to offer fortnightly opinion pieces on British politics. Huffington Post UK Blogger I have been given a blog on this well-known online publication, offering a centre-right perspective on national and international politics.

BullsEye Editor-in-Chief After a year of reliable, high-quality contributions, I was commended by the retiring editor to be her replacement. I am responsible for overseeing the publication of the magazine of the European Democrat Students a pan-European organization with over 1,600,000 members which involves keeping track of a large team of international contributors and liaising with designers and EDS executives. The job involved travelling to various European destinations and overseeing a Council of Europe grant application. Open Unionism Editor Took over as editor of this well-regarded and popular website, soliciting and editing content from a wide range of opinion-formers. Content varies from commentary to academic, and previous contributors include professors, politicians and party leaders alongside students, journalists and members of the public. BBC Radio Political Panellist I have represented the Conservative Party on Radio 5 Lives Up All Night Young Parliament panel, and have also appeared on BBC Radio Manchester, the Tony Livesey show, BBC Radio Scotland, the Nolan Show and 5 Live Breakfast.

Daily Telegraph Work Experience (Comment)/Letters Desk I was offered a weeks work experience on the Comment desk, during which I had my pieces published daily on the newspapers website. I have been invited to continue submitting articles to the papers online Comment section. I impressed sufficiently that I was invited to take up an opening on the Letters desk to cover leave, where I learned the ins-and-outs of this unique part of the paper. The Times Work Experience Seconded to the Foreign Desk, I was tasked with researching data for the graphics that accompanied stories. I was commended for thoroughness and getting stuck in.

Feb. 2012: -

Liverpool Echo Work Experience Seconded to the editorial desk, I was given the opportunity to write stories for this widelyrespected local paper. A full days lead-chasing broke a page five story, and I was told I was welcome to do another stint at a future date.

Aug. 2011/12:

BullsEye Editorial Board Member and Contributor Became known for writing challenging, well-supported articles that attracted a lot of responses. First ever contribution was run as the front-page lead of that edition. Was invited to apply for the editorship after a year. -

Apr. 2010 Apr. 2011: Manchester Debating Union Publicity Director I sat on the five-person Executive of one of the largest student debating societies in the country, where I was responsible for designing, innovating and coordinating the publicity for a year-long schedule of public debates and training sessions as well as the annual Manchester Inter-Varsity competition. Awards: Oct/Sept 2010/11: Total Politics Blog Awards: 2010: Top 100 Conservative Blogger (41st) after a few months writing. 2011: Top 10 Conservative Blogger (8th); Top 20 Right Wing Blogger (16th); Top 10 Conservative Blog (7th); Top 20 Right Wing Blog (18th); Top 100 UK Political Blog (55th); Top 100 UK Political Blogger (48th). This makes me the top centre-right student blogger in the UK for 2011/12. ASI Young Writer on Liberty Award: Won this prestigious writing competition organized by the Adam Smith Institute. The Ayn Rand Foundation sent me an extra prize in recognition of my work.

Other Interests and Skills: Feb 2012: Sept 2008 Present: Adam Smith Institute: Served a two-week placement at the eminent think-tank, researching and writing wellreceived contributions to their popular website. Debating: Represented the MDU at several inter-university competitions, always finishing in the top half of the rankings. Also performed at many public debates, and considered one of the best public speakers in the MDU.

July 2007 Aug 2007: World Challenge: The application involved a spoken presentation, various team-building exercises and fitness tests. The trip itself entailed spending three weeks in Malawi with a team of classmates, a challenging mountain climb and a week spent organizing and helping to renovate a school. Sept. 2005 Present: Other Trips and Exchanges: In September 2012 I went on a visit to Israel with BICOM, a British-Israeli relations organisation, during which I met Israeli and Palestinian politicians, opinion formers and journalists, gaining a much-enhanced insight into the complex politics of the Israel/Palestine debate. In 2005 I hosted an exchange student from China, who stayed in my house for a week to learn about the UK. I visited Beijing in 2006. At Easter 2007 I went on the biennial trip to the USA with the politics department. I learnt about the American political system and met then-Senator Joe Biden. -
