How are carbon emissions related to global warming? What are carbon offsets? How are they used? Why are they controversial? Vocabulary Greenhouse gases are harmful to the environment. Some people buy carbon offsets to ease their conscience. You can swipe your credit card at the kiosks in the airport. It is difficult to imagine because it is an abstract concept. They are starting the idea from scratch. They thought it was a good service for the passengers. They hope to raise awareness about the environmental impact of flying. A nonprofit organization verifies that they are legitimate. He thinks consumers would pay more if they had more certainty. Discussion What are carbon offsets, and how are they used?
