Applications for April 2013 Currently we are still receiving applications from families for their children to come and study here at MIS. In fact a few classes are predicted to be full for April 2013 or are already getting very full. Therefore, if any parents know of any friends who might be thinking of applying to the schoolplease ask them to hurry up. We cannot guarantee in some classes that we will have any spaces in April 2013. Thank you.

Parents are welcome to watch if they wish. On Wednesday morning, Katie Van Camp will be visiting us once more. Thanks to the Literacy Team for organizing thiswe know the children will enjoy these fun and educational three days.

Mochi Making Last week was a wonderful experience for our Kindergarten children to make mochi A HUGE thanks to our wonderful parents for coming in to help. Also to the staff for organising and to Orii-san in the office who may have been quite tired afterwards, BUT had a lot of fun as well! Book Fair Today was our Book Fair and classes visited during the day. Many thanks to Mr. Hall for organizing. We hope some parents got a chance to see after school today if they wish.

Cheer Leaders on display!

PTA News Many thanks to those parents who attended both the PTA Coffee Morning as well as the last PTA Meeting. Many things were discussed and many ideas shared. The last two PTA Newsletters are now possible to be viewed on the MIS Web Site. I know that there will be another meeting in February, so it would be lovely to see more parents attend that meeting if possible. More news will be sent home soon. Graduations Detailed letters will be sent home very soon. In the meantime I would like to clarify dates and times. On March 22nd the K3 Graduation will be held in the morning. Probably starting at 9.15am or 9.30am. This will be open to K1G2 children to attend as well as parents and family of K3 children as well of course. We will also be very happy for K3 siblings to attend. Grade 6 Graduation will be in the afternoon; probably beginning at 1.15pm or 1.30pm. This will be open to children from Grades 3-5 as well as Grade 6 parents/family. Siblings are also invited to attend.

Well done to our Cheer Leaders! Last Saturday, our two Cheer Leading Teams entered a competition. We were the only school based team entering, as many are privately run. It was therefore wonderful to hear that BOTH teams won special certificates as part of their Impression Awards. We owe a big thanks to all the mums who have helped coach such wonderful Cheer Leaders and we are all very proud of them. We also have a winning plaque displayed in the Media Centre at this time.
Flu situation at the moment. As parents know, Grade 5 class were absent for two days this week due to Influenza. We are taking precautions at the school as always, including washing hands often. We are allowing children to wear masks in class at this timealthough we would prefer they take off for music and other obvious times. Some parents have decided to give their children a Virus Guard, which some children have started wearing around their necks. We will expect these to be put in a pocket rather than on a strap around a childs neck. Having researched these extensively, it appears that they work within a 50cm radiusso having it in a pocket will work very well. Many thanks.
