Study Abroad in Italy


St. John International University welcomes college students and recent high school graduates who wish to participate in our semester, year or Summer study abroad programs. Students can choose from over 400 different courses which are taught in English by six university departments in our campus in northern Italy Study abroad students have access to our full undergraduate course Catalog and take classes along with degree and certificate students because St. John International University is an American chartered university. In both Fall and Spring, an undergraduate student can enroll in five classes for a total of 15 -17 credits. Students can enroll individually or as part of a program sponsored by their college. We welcome collaborations with international universities and urge faculties and deans to contact us and our agents at this regard.

Our Campus in Turin


Turin (Population 908,000) or Torino, is nestled at the foot of the Italian Alps of northern Italy. Torino astonishes the senses with its beautiful Baroque architecture and imposing cathedral domes. The Po river flows through the city and brings to life the natural beauty and unique character that makes this city majestic destination for many Italians and foreigners. Recently the host of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, Torino attracts outdoor enthusiasts and passionate fans of the most popular soccer team in Italy, Juventus F.C. Torino is a ma jor hub on the Italian train line and with its extensive network of trams and buses, traveling around Italy and the rest of Europe is very convenient. Its proximity to the rest of Europe makes it an ideal vantage point from which to travel and experience n ot only all of Italy, but surrounding countries. The modern life of the city is characterized largely by its art and design industries which employ many of its inhabitants. The presence of major Italian car design companies such as FIAT (which produces Alfa Romea, Lancia and Ferrari) has defined the contemporary economy in Torino, making it an important center of European commerce. Rome: 70 minutes by direct plane Paris: 85 minutes by direct plane London: 105 minutes by direct plane The campus is located in Vinovo about 10 miles from Turins city center. Originally built in 1510, the Della Rovere castle was built for Cardinal Della Rovere . The castles main floor features priceless artwork including frescoes by Pintoricchio, rare examples of Renaissance terracotta, mosaic floors, and original Baroque stuccowork and ceiling paintings. The structure is currently undergoing some restoration and once completed the campus will have over 54,000 ft 2 dedicated to faculty, staff and student use.

Housing in apartments
Apartments are unisex and are composed of shared bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and common space. All apartments are furnished and provide minimal bed linens and towels, although students may wish to supplement with their own.

Housing in Italian home-stays


Accommodation with Italian host -families is available for students who are looking for an intensive Ital ian cultural and linguistic experience while in Italy. This opportunity is an excellent way to practice your Italian skills and learn about our local culture and customs.Host-family arrangements included accommodation in a single or double room (depending on family).

Application Process / Eligibility


In order to apply to our study abroad program, candidates must provide the following for review by the

Admissions Office: Completed application forms A written statement of purpose Application fee of 50 Euro (non -refundable) Four passport-size photographs (1-1/2''x2'') with the student's name printed on the back. These will be used to obtain various documents once in Italy. Photocopy of a valid passport

We offer our students the chance to participate in internship experiences through agreements made with select organizations and companies in Italy. This type of opportunity places students in direct contact with everyday life, helps them to learn the language and increases their sense of civic duty and responsibility.
