$335,874 and cited reasons including:
1) funds cut by Federal and State
governments with added duties.

Bridgeman asked Commissioners and Department

Comm. Bridgeman - Deficit at $414,553.
Comm. Bridgeman said if we cant cut equipment and supplies
then that leaves employees and he didnt like to get into that.
Comm. Bridgeman: some of the things that are going to have to
be cut are going to be very important.
Comm. Bridgeman: there was a possibility that the City would
not be getting any income tax surcharge money.
Comm. Bridgeman asked that the Council and Department heads
go back and go through everything and see what they could cut
and give the cuts to Comptroller Crundwell.

Crundwell updated the City Council on the cuts that were made,

An unmarked Police vehicle for $15,500.

Doug Jones said he cut:
$7,000 from Underground Fuel Tank and Monitor.
Chief Hill said he was worried about the Cemetery hauling gasoline
as it was very dangerous.
Total cuts made in the budget amounted to approximately
$195,000.

be used for engineering fees for the South Side Trunk Sewer.
Comm. Bridgeman asked that all departments bring in significant
cuts before the next work session. Comm. Bridgeman asked that
the cuts be given to Rita Crundwell.

Comm. Bridgeman: Current deficit at $374,039. Cuts made in the

Comm. Bridgeman reported that $151,297 had been cut during the
current session, bringing the deficit down to $222,742. Comm.
Bridgeman informed the Council and Superintendents that he would
be getting together with Comptroller Crundwell to make sure the
revenues are as close as can be estimated.

Comm. Blackburn advised against cutting the DARE officer and said
that it was very important to the youth of our area. Comm.
Bridgeman said the City could not afford a DARE officer as the
benefits will keep increasing each year.

Comm Bridgeman said the upcoming Council was going to have to
make some serious decisions on a lot of issues. He said if we keep
going at the present rate it would become necessary to cut personnel
if the City did not receive additional tax revenue.

Comm. Bridgeman: income tax payments are currently
thirty days late from the State, things are very tight in the
budget, deficit now at $581,550.
Bridgeman gave the following summary of department
cuts: Public Affairs cut $17,000
Accounts and Finance cut $55,000
Police Department cut $15,500
Fire Department cut $6,000
Street Department cut $94,300
Public Properties cut $1,900
Traffic Maintenance cut $19,600
Oakwood Cemetery cut $15,700.
Bridgeman advised there is a hiring freeze in all
departments

that the State might cut more tax payments to the
City and some really tough cuts will have to be made

borrow $10 to $11 million, which is the legal limit to borrow,

Comm. Bridgeman: Deficit at $1,268,444.
Comm. Bridgeman: the bleak outlook at this time creates the
possibilities of no part-time employees this summer, possible
layoffs of full-time employees, hours of work cut, services cut,
and possible cuts in benefits.
Comm. Bridgeman: the State is six months behind in paying us
our tax monies.
Chief Shipman:
Emergency Vehicle Fund cut $38,000 for ambulance
equipment
$1,000 for radio equipment
$2,000 for EV training.
Comm. Bridgeman advised there still needs to be more cuts and
to have all recommendations turned in to Rita Crundwell as soon
as possible.

Comm. Bridgeman : There is no money for street work, more
cuts are needed and services will have to be cut in some areas
such as mowing, plowing on Sunday nights and repairs may be
delayed.
