The Pike Place Market Foundation works to preserve and enhance the traditions and diversity of the Pike Place Market community by helping to raise funds for the Pike Market Medical Clinic, Child Care & Preschool, Senior Center, the Downtown Food Bank and special historical and community projects.

For decades, Pike Market Producer, Lina, has donated what she doesnt sell to Pike Market Food Bank. Overall, our Market farmers donate up to 500 pounds of fruits and veggies every week to feed the hungry at Pike Place Market.

The familiar scent of pastries in the air, the chill of ice poured over fish displays and the The Food Bank is a small warehouse space located inside of the Pike Market Parking Garage. More than 500 families and households rely on the Food Bank every week to provide groceries to help them get by. Dapper Darrell, as he is lovingly named for his high-fashion style, welcomes each and every person with a smile. Sunset Supper at the Market
On August 17 we celebrated the Northwests bounty of incredible food, wine, and brews with 1,200 friends at Sunset Supper. Not only was the sampling superb, the results were even better: together, we raised $175,288 to support the community services of Pike Place Market!

Senior Center are just as needed as the packaged groceries at the Food Bank. In addition to a lack of food, many members of the Senior Center are dealing with health issues like diabetes and hypertension. Michael prides himself in cooking not only 4,000 hot meals a month, but meals that are healthy too, meeting the nutritional guidelines for seniors.

When youre hungry, your day-to-day becomes about food, says Michael. Here at the Senior Center people get to sit down and have a meal together that is cooked with carewhere at least for a little while they can put their worries aside.
Over 2 years, the Senior Center increased the number of meals served from 32,000 annually to an estimated 48,000 meals by the end of 2012. Thats a 50% increase!

The Giving Trees will be decorated with lights and holiday wishes from lowincome members of the Pike Place Market community. On October 2nd, Feast at the Market brought 475 feasters to the Market who dined at 23 Market restaurants and tasting rooms and raised $55,515 to support Pike Place Medical Clinic!

Ouch! Our low-income, disabled and senior residents and clients are feeling the hurt after Metros Ride Free Area was eliminated in September for all downtown buses. Our agency staff is handing out more free bus tickets so clients can access the Food Bank, Senior Center and Medical Clinic.

On October 12th, more than 70 artisan food and beverage vendors offered up tastings to 1,150 party goers at Arcade Lights in Pike Place Market. This event raised $11,687 for the Market Foundation!

Members of the Pike Place community recently painted mini art squares that are being assembled into a floor-to-ceiling mural outside of the entrance to the Pike Market Food Bank. Stay tuned for photos and the unveiling.
