Borewell information

Hello All, Thank you so much for this Agricultural forum. I need information regarding borewell Last week I drilled a bore well for around 360 feet in mandya district Karnataka & I got around 2 1/5 inch water, fortunately with gods grace I got water at 120 feet level & now my doubts are 1. While drilling few of them suggested to drill till 400 feet & few of them advised me to stop at 300 feet. Please suggest me how to go about with these suggestions. (Now I cant change this but it will be helpful for my knowledge & I can share the same in future with some one). 2. Bore well driller has inserted only only casing pipe for the bore well & he told only one is enough as the soil is good & it is for 20 feet, pls help me whether it is fine & what is the purpose of putting casing pipe. 3. My 03rd question is now I need to buy pipes to put or to take water, Pls suggest me which pipes are good & also I have drilled bore well for 360 feet & water is found at 120 feet now for how many feet I need to put pipes & which pipes are good & approximate cost for the same. 4. Also please suggest me what are the motors available & which one is good & also the cost. Thanks in advance for all your help comments & sharing the information. Regards, Lokesh Krushi Karmika

hello sir Drilling a deep borewell or drilling with low pressure rigs is not the key to ensure success, but it is advisable to drill at least 10 to 15 meter (30 to 50 ft) below the last Aquifer (water bearing horizon) especially within the Low yielding Basaltic terrrain. The depth of the Aquifer differs from place to place due to the natural variation within the subsurface. Drilling slightly deeper ensure that the pump can be lowered down at least to the level of the aquifer. It is advisable to Flush the borewell using detergent powder on completion of the drilling work. This helps the fine rock powder that is left behind in settling to the base. This prevents the impellers of the new pump from getting spoilt due to the fine abrasive nature of the rock powder. __________________ -I am a technical moderator on this discussion forum. Regards, Lokesh Krushi Karmika Dear Lokesh, What is the casing pipe diameter? How much is the water availability? If there is a bore bore well nearby, you ask them what is the delivery pipe size. My suggestion would be to fix the motor at a depth of 180 - 200 feet. Run the motor for long hours and see if your bore can sustain delivery. If your bore does not sustain the delivery of water, you may have to lower the motor. You have to fix the motor by trial and error. During rainy season, you may have to lift the motor up as the water table goes up during monsoon. ASHIRVAD is a good plastic pipe for use in bore well. There may be many local brands that are cheaper. As for submersible motor, go for TEXMO or CRI. But you need to know the depth of the

well and delivery size in inches before deciding the motor model. Motor dealer will be able to suggest correct model if you give depth and delivery size. Regards.

Dear sir, My father has drilled around 7 bores in my fields in last 5 years but he got water only in two points that is 1 1/2 inch( now one is dried) . These spots had been located by rural diviner with some coconut, sticks and some people with smelling the soil. As a technologist i don't believe coconut as a water finding device. So I am looking for geologist(private or Govt) in Medak district , AP who will use electric resistivity method for finding exact spot. I have been searching for their contact details but couldn't find still. I need your valuable suggestions and finding geologist on digging a bore well. Thanks in advance for your suggestion on this particular case. Regards B Kishan Asst manager,

Regards. Dear, Thank you for the reply & Casing pipe is for around 6 inches. Water am getting around 2.5 inches. Yes there is a nearby bore well & their delivery pipe size is 3 inches. Ashirvad pipes are plastic pipes ? Can I put plastic pipes ? or do I need to put Iron pipes ? Pls advise. Thank you so much for the other information provided. Regards. Lokesh Krushi Karmika
