Using the Media Optimizer

NOTE: Be sure to save a copy of the "clean" Excel file before starting in case you need to go back to the
original assumptions and model.
Model Setup
1) Review your media planning materials to be sure you understand key concepts
2) Use the Results page to choose or customize a frequency response function.
3) Use the "Target Groups" page to enter your target group weights.
4) Use the "Media Vehicle Input" to enter media impact weights. Remember that
differences in media abilities to reach targets defined in "Target Groups" will have
been accounted for. Weights should reflect other media differences.
Current Media Plan
5) go the "Media Decision" page and hit F9 to observe the effect of your decisions on
vehicle efficiencies. Do not change insertions yet.
6) Go to "Results" page and press the "Run Simulation" button. Press the "Save
Original Plan" button and print baseline results.
7) Revise the Number of Insertions on the "Media Decisions" page. Do NOT change
target weights, media impact factors, or frequency response functions.
8) Go the "Results" page, hit the "Run Simulation" button. Print the revised page and
compare to baseline from 6). Repeat 7) as often as you like. Select the best plan
and write a memo justifying your decisions.
9) Once the frequency response function is set, press "Run Simulation" button to the
right to load the plan statistics into the "Results" tab.

Do not touch "Reset Model"
