About 230 Stevens Point Pacelli High School students learned about the dangers of texting and driving during an assembly at the school Monday, Feb. 4. The assembly featured videos and speeches, as well as a new distracted driving simulator. In the photo senior Courtney Kizewski demonstrates the simulator while seniors Katie Olson and Max Lundgren look on. Those three, along with senior Sydney Otis (not pictured), purchased the simulator as part of a community service project to educate teens and other drivers about the dangers of distracted and impaired driving. Attendees at the 49th Annual Izaak Walton Jamboree on Saturday, Feb. 2, look at a display honoring the memory of William Peterson, a longtime member of the League who died in 2012. Peterson ran the fishing contest for most of the years the Jamboree has been held. There was no fishing contest or fisheree this year because the McDill Pond was drawn down last year to repair the dam. (Portage County Gazette photo)
Thousandaires make up the majority of small businesses in many local communities. And it is the community bank that proudly supports this local commerce more than any other banking institution. Owned, operated and managed by local business leaders and community residents, community banks understand the challenges unique to the local economy. They work closely with businesses, shop owners and farms to support their growth. Decisions are made locally. Loans are approved, written and invested locally. And we assist businesses close to home in every way a neighbor can.
