Who is Mystery Babylon?

You will never see it called by this name in front-page headlines, but it is the most powerful government on earth. "And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH," Revelation 17:5.

"The mother of harlots and abominations of the earth"! What a title! Consider the implications of this divine allegation. He is speaking specifically of the mother of all evil. Who in the world is the mother of all evil? I am going to show you clearly in this article that the MOTHER OF ALL HARLOTS is, and can be none other than, The Roman Catholic Church. Let's define some very basic things first. Holy Father: God is called our Father. Holy Mother: Paul said "Jerusalem which is above... is the Mother of us all," (saints). In Revelation, John called the "New Jerusalem" the "bride, the Lamb's wife". Our spiritual mother is the collective saints. In these days, the TRUE Church is our mother. (See Galatians 4:26). Evil Father: Lucifer is called the Father of all liars. He is the first and original sinner. He started everything wicked. Evil Mother: Mystery Babylon is the evil counterpart of the true Church. It is the collective body of evil men and spirits who worship and serve Lucifer and blaspheme God. It is built on an ancient web of sophisticated lies and deception. So, these four terms enable us to identify the root and source of all things good and evil. God and His Church are the source of righteousness in the earth. Lucifer and Mystery Babylon are the source of all things evil in the earth. Is that a true statement? You could argue that our flesh and our carnal minds are sources of evil, but

that does not account for the fact that it was Lucifer who first inspired Adam and Eve to sin. Technically, Lucifer is the father of the carnal mind - the mind that opposes God. Had Lucifer not tempted Adam and Eve, they may have never entertained a thought contrary to their divine Creator. Lucifer, the once-angel-of-light, now the chief proponent of all spiritual darkness, is clearly identified in the scriptures, in Ezekiel 28:13-19, Isaiah 14:12-15 and Revelation 12:3-4. As the great "dragon" fell from heaven, he took one-third of the God's holy angels with him in his rebellion. For Satan's rebellion against God, he has received a sentence of eternal punishment: "...God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment," 2 Peter 2:4. "Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels," Matthew 25:41. Lucifer's sin began in the Garden of Eden. "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee." Ezekiel 28:13-15 These verses clearly depict Lucifer as a glorious holy angel, decked with all God's splendor, standing in the holy mountain, and in Eden, the garden of God. This is a critical fact to take note of and remember, because there are a lot of people who think Satan committed sin in a pre-Adamite world. They teach that Lucifer had a pre-Adamite society of cities, and that God overthrew it and made the earth chaotic. They teach that God had to RE-CREATE the earth from that chaos. commentary. That is simply not true. Lucifer was sinless in the Garden of Eden. God didn't even make the Garden of Eden until AFTER He created Adam and Eve! "And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed," Genesis 2:8. God made Adam BEFORE He prepared the Garden of Eden. That means that Lucifer was still holy when Adam was created. Lucifer sinned AFTER the Garden of Eden was planted. Ezekiel 28 shows that Lucifer was SINLESS, in his GLORY, in the Garden of Eden. That means that Adam and Lucifer were BOTH sinless in the Garden of Eden! Lucifer sinned first, then he tempted Eve and Eve tempted Adam. Lucifer sinned for the first time in the Garden of Eden. There was no sinful pre-Adamite civilization, no chaotic earth, no biblical "Atlantis." Not one scripture supports that theory. Lucifer's sin took place in the Garden of Eden. Ultimately, there is no reason or benefit to believing in a pre-Adamite world. It is merely a fascinating conjecture. The fact is, we know Lucifer's history. The FIRST PROPHECY in the Bible is God's curse on the serpent (Lucifer's incarnation). God promised to raise up seed of the woman which would eventually be known as Messiah, to bruise his head. God hates NOTHING more than He hates Lucifer. And Lucifer hates nothing more than God. Lucifer was a sinner before anybody else was a sinner. Jesus said that Lucifer was a LIAR before anyone else was a liar. "...for he is a liar, and the father of it," John 8:44. It was in that same statement that Jesus told the Pharisees that they were of their father, the Devil. LUCIFER = FATHER OF SIN AND SINNERS Now if Lucifer is the father of sin, who is the MOTHER of sin? Eve? The scripture does not call Eve the mother of sin, or the mother of sinners. Mankind's sins are not blamed on Eve. God cleansed the earth of sinners in Noah's day. God purged the earth of sin. He started over with a clean slate for mankind.

In Noah's day, God avenged Himself of all the evil that was in the earth. He saved only righteous Noah and his family. God gave Noah the plan for the ark, and eight souls were the only survivors of the great flood. God cleansed the earth to His own satisfaction. He started civilization completely new and fresh with Noah's family. God's clearest instructions were that men should be fruitful and multiply and REPLENISH the earth. God intended for mankind to SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. Tragically, a man named NIMROD devised a plan that displeased God. Rather than to replenish society throughout the earth, NIMROD thought to build a great city and a great tower to bring the people together as one. God was displeased. He saw that men would build the city and a tower. He saw that their intention was to PREVENT mankind from being scattered abroad in the earth. That is NOT what God wanted. "And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth," (Genesis 11:14). God determined not to allow them to remain in one place. He came down to the tower and confounded their languages so that they were forced to leave off building the tower. The place was called BABEL, because God confused their languages. They all began to speak many different languages and could no longer cooperate with each other. The TOWER OF BABEL is where Babylon began. Here is the oldest root of Mystery Babylon. We will discover the evolution of Mystery Babylon as we progress. BABEL was about far more than just a tower. Everything about it was wrong. Much sin and evil was born at Babel. Here are some of the details. Nimrod was the great-grandson of Noah (Genesis 10:6-11). We don't know a lot about Nimrod, but what we know is incriminating. Nimrod was the first person to meet with God's displeasure after Noah's day. First, in Genesis 10:8, he was called "a mighty one in the earth". The Hebrew root of "mighty one" is "powerful, warrior, tyrant". The famous Jewish historian, Josephus, wrote that Nimrod used his tyranny to threaten the people not to believe in God but to trust in him and their own powers to prosper. Nimrod is the first warrior, the first tyrant. He is the father of war. He is the

first man in the Bible to build a kingdom. He built at least four cities and ruled them all. Why? Here is the beginning of men overpowering other men. Here is the beginning of the use of force, warfare and tyranny. God did not instruct men to use force to control others. God did not instruct them to be tyrants or power-grabbers. God did not instruct them to exercise hegemony, or political control over one another. Before Nimrod, there was no mention of wars or governments. Nimrod built not one, but many cities - Babel, Erech, Accad and Calneh. Nimrod is the first person in the Bible to be referred to as having a KINGDOM. More significantly, Nimrod was not just the king over a city, but he was king over a federation of cities. Here is the beginning of empire and imperialism. In fact, NIMROD is the father of the kingdom of Shinar, known later as Babylon. God was displeased with the entire development. God's idea of government is theocracy - divine rule. Man's idea of government is federalism - men at a central authority controlling men in constituent roles. But this is only a small part of all that was wrong with Babel, and eventually Babylon. Many legends and myths sprang up around Nimrod. Although it is impossible to separate fact from fiction, the reality of the matter is that Nimrod became a central figure in a large body of Babylonian religious beliefs for centuries to come. Myths and legends eventually turned Nimrod into a son of the Sun god, Bel (aka Marduk). Josephus linked Nimrod (a.k.a. Ninus, founder of Ninevah) with the goddess Semiramis. Nimrod and Semiramis, although largely legendary figures, were nevertheless the central figures in Babylonian worship. Semiramis is one of the most widely-known figures of Babylonian antiquity. Legends about her abound, often conflicting with each other. In principal, Semiramis was believed to be a powerful queen who ruled much of Asia in her time. In later times, she came to be called the goddess ISHTAR. The legends portray her as a lustful mortal daughter of a fish-goddess, and herself a dove-goddess. Images and inscriptions associating her with fish and doves can be seen throughout the ancient Middle East. Perhaps most significant of all legends, pertains to Semiramis' actions following the death of Nimrod. Alexander Hislop, in his classic treatise, "The Two Babylons" revealed that Semiramis claimed to have had a child, Tammuz, by Nimrod some time after his death. Her child was purportedly VIRGIN-BORN. Thus was the cultish version of the "Madonna with child" from mythology.

Hislop showed how these ancient myths became the basis for Babylonian worship of Semiramis, later known as Ishtar. This evolved into the Egyptian story of the goddess Isis, and the Grecian and Roman goddesses, Venus, Diana, and Athena. All of it sprang from the cultish myth of a pseudo-virgin goddess (pseudo meaning false) bearing a god-like son, an evil foreshadowing of the virginborn son of Jehovah, Jesus Christ. BECAUSE OF THE POWERFUL IMPACT OF ALL THE SEMIRAMIS MYTHS, and countless spin-offs, Babylon can be show to be the primary source of virtually all the major cults and goddess-worship of the ancient world. Most of the best-known myths about Egyptian and Greek goddesses can be traced back to Babylonian (aka Sumerian) roots. Hislop further draws a connection between the Babylonian myths and the Rome. Throughout history, Rome and the Roman Catholic Church can be seen assimilating and adapting pagan teachings and cultures from around the world into the Catholic cathecism and way of life. Almost the entire field of Mariology, the worship/veneration of the Virgin Mary is extra-biblical. Nothing in the Bible justifies the enormous theological platform for Mariology. In the early fourth century, during Constantine's days, the Catholic Church began adapting the pagan myths of the mother goddess to the new Roman Catholic doctrines of Madonna with child. As a result of the evolution of the Semiramis' legends, and many subsequent myths, hundreds of millions of people now worship before the idol of the virgin Mary. Hell couldn't be happier. The entire history of the Babylonian Empire is seasoned with stories of the worship of the sun-gods and goddesses. Hammurabi (1792-1750 BC) was the king of the first truly great era of the Babylonian kingdom. He is famous for instituting the "Code of Hammurabi" 282 laws that he supposedly received from the Sun god, Shamash. Herein lies another of the grave sins of Babylon - worship of the Sun god. Before I elaborate on the subject of sun-god worship, let me go back to the original premise. Let's take another look at this subject of the MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS. If God is our Father, the Church is our Mother, and Lucifer is Father of Sinners, then the Mother of sinners must be something like an EVIL CHURCH, or at least, some kind of false religious system!

IS THERE A FALSE RELIGIOUS SYSTEM in the earth today that could be accurately called the MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS? Yes, there is. Fortunately, we have more scriptural identifiers in Revelation 17:1-18. Let's look at them first of all in a list, then study the list. 1. Called "the Great Whore" 2. Committed fornication with the kings of the earth. 3. Made the inhabitants of the earth drunk with the wine of her fornication. 4. Depicted as a woman riding a scarlet-colored beast. 5. The beast was full of names of blasphemy. 6. The beast had seven heads which are seven mountains upon which the woman sits 7. She gives life to the image of a beast that will have ten horns, which will be ten kings (which have received no kingdom as yet, but receive power one hour with the beast). 8. She was arrayed in purple and scarlet 9. She was decked with gold, and precious stones and pearls. 10. She had a golden cup in her hand 11. Her cup was full of her abominations and fornications. 12. The name on her forehead was MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 13. She was drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the martyrs of Jesus. 14. The beast she rode "was, and is not, and yet is" 15. The beast "shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition" 16. The ten horns shall hate the whore and make her desolate and naked and shall eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17. The woman is that great city which reigneth over the kings of the earth. THESE ARE A LOT OF VERY REVEALING CLUES!

Let's look at them one at a time and see what we uncover. Clue #1. Called "the Great Whore" If God's true bride is the Church, Lucifer's wife is likely to be a great whorish religious body. Consider that God made all things that were created. Whoever this great whore is should have first of all been faithful to her Creator. But it is her UNFAITHFULNESS TO HER CREATOR that makes her a whore. Clue #2. Committed fornication with the kings of the earth. This must be a massive religious organization to be involved with all the kings on earth. She must operate in every country. She must have global political influence. She must be impressive enough to be able to seduce the most powerful rulers on earth. Clue #3. Made the inhabitants of the earth drunk with the wine of her fornication. Mystery Babylon has seduced masses of humanity. She made them drunk on her fornication. She has unthinkable ability to sway the masses. They think she is beautiful, glorious, desirable. She deceives them without their suspecting how evil she is. Clue #4. Depicted as a woman riding a scarlet-colored beast. Mystery Babylon rides a powerful political system. Let's look at the details below. Clue #5. The beast government was full of names of blasphemy. This beast hates God and blasphemes Him. This governmental system officially opposes God. At its core, it worships Satan and resists God. Clue #6. The beast government had seven heads which are seven mountains upon which the woman sits. This speaks of a geographical location for the location of the beast. This location has seven mountains. Clue #7. The beast government had ten horns which are ten kings which have received no kingdom as yet, but receive power one hour with the beast. This shows that it is NOT an existing government. It is a government that will come into power at a designated time during the last days. Clue #8. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet. We should be able to identify this woman wearing purple and red.

Clue #9. The woman was decked with gold, precious stones, pearls. We should be able to see these ornaments when we see her. Clue #10. She had a golden cup in her hand. We should be able to see this, too. Clue #11. The golden cup was full of her abominations and fornications. If you look in her cup, you will see unfaithfulness to God and other things God hates. Clue #12. Name on her forehead was MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Mystery - secret goings-on Babylon - connected to the ancient Babylon The Great - a force to be reckoned with Mother of Harlots - has daughters who are unfaithful to God Mother of Abominations of the earth - has conceived many sins on earth. Clue #13. Was drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the martyrs of Jesus. She has derived great pleasure killing God's chosen people, true Christians. Clue #14. The beast she rode "was, and is not, and yet is" The governmental system she rides has had power and lost power and regained power. Clue #15. The beast "shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition" This governmental system is demonic, from the pits of hell, and will be condemned by God. Clue #16. The ten horns shall hate the whore and make her desolate and naked and shall eat her flesh and burn her with fire. When the ten kings of the great beast come to power, they will betray the woman who rode them. Clue #17. The woman is that great city which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

The woman is a city that all the kings on earth obey. Mystery Babylon is a symbiotic entity, comprised of the Roman Catholic Church as the spiritual centerpiece with the entire New World Order as its secular colleague. They are spiritually intertwined at the present, but will be separated at the "judgment of the Great Whore", mentioned in Revelation 17:1 and 19:2. The "Beast" (New World Order) will turn against the "Whore" (Roman Catholic Church) and destroy her. Revelation 17:16-18: "And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."
