LSMW LSMW is a technique where in a target file is first maintained and then the recording is made for this

target file. Now a source file is defined and the source structure is maintained. Next we map each and every field of target file with the source file. Next we specify the file name which we need to import. This file should not contain the entry which has already been recorded. The file with header should be recorded. This is to note that the source structure can contain more fields than required but should be in the same sequence as the file that we want to upload. Best is the way to maintain the same source structure as the target is recorded. Delete the additional fields from the source file if any. Neither is there a need to mention these in the source structure. This is optional. Only one target file can be allocated at a time and can be mapped further. Though there is a functionality to add more target files in the same LSMW by defining the batch input name with the latest target recording. Target file provides the fields only the ones where in we enter the values and not the one for which no value is entered. Hence it is difficult to manage an entry in the source file containing a field that is not mapped to target file. In case you want to update a single field via change GL master say AUTOP tick, you need to upload the complete file with all the three tabs of GL master. Here the recording will contain only 8 fields ie. GL account, company code, account grp, balance sheet indicator, short text, long text, FSG and AUTOP. Thus all the fields will get recorded automatically for the first screen and when change button is hit, go to 3 tab to make AUTOP tick there.

Remember while importing the data, always, close the text file which needs to be transported or else it will throw an error and will not transport. Create project, subprojet and an object.

Execute Remember while recording the FS00 screen, touch each and every required field for which source fields are maintained in the excel sheet and save. Record any GL account which is there in the excel sheet. Give proper short names and long texts. Give any dummy description here and it will take the correct description while importing per the txt file saved.

Maintain Source structures

Maintain Source Fields. Click at Table maintenance icon.

Prepare an excelsheet and save it as tab delimited as text file. Select the first line for field names and make a paste special as transpose. Copy these fields in LSMW.

Keep clicking on the enter button clicking button without caring the message as it is a green message. Now go back of FS00 screen. It will for a dialog box for yes and No. Click at No. Message saying batch input session is complete will come.
