1st NURSING CHORALE COMPETITION CONCEPT PAPER THEME: Activity Date Time Place

Enhancing Camaraderie, Creativity and Competence through Music


1st Nursing Chorale Competition January 16, 2013, Wednesday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm College of Nursing- Skills Laboratory

Purpose To foster camaraderie, unity and creativity among teams through showcasing singing prowess in preparation for the institutional canticle choral competition Objectives This activity aims to: 1. Establish rapport and camaraderie among team members. 2. Emphasize the essence of teamwork and collaboration within the group. 3. Create an avenue for recreation and amusement among nursing students. 4. Provide a platform for enhancing creativity and showcasing talents. 5. Generate points for teams to earn. 6. Promote spiritual values through songs of praise. 7. Develop a healthy competitive attitude among nursing students in preparation for the upcoming Institutional Canticle Choral Competition.

Guidelines for Participants and Judges


1. The chorale competition is open to all amateur team chorale groups. 2. No recognized and official chorale group shall be allowed to join the contest. 3. Only one (1) chorale group from each team is allowed to join the competition. 4. Each chorale group should have a minimum of 25 and a maximum of 30 members. 5. Each group should only be composed of bonafide students, faculty members or alumni of Adamson University-College of Nursing. 6. Each choral group is required to render two songs: one Maria song of their Choice, and Salamat Musika which will be the Contest Piece. Medley and solo parts are not allowed. 7. The Chosen Piece and Contest Piece can be sung with musical accompaniments (piano or guitar only). Minus one or multiplex tapes are NOT allowed. 8. Each chorale group is given minimum of 10 minutes and maximum of 15 minutes to finish their entire presentation including entrance and exit. (Failure to comply shall receive deductions) 9. Each team is required to submit a copy of the Chosen Piece to Ms. Shee-Ann D. Meneses one week before the competition. (Failure to submit on time will receive deductions in team points) 10. The chorale group must be at the contest venue at least 1 hour before the start of the program. 11. The decision of the panel of judges is final and the chairperson will announce the winner. The criteria for judging will be as follows: Musicality-------------------------------------------70% Harmony----------------------------25% Dynamics-----------------------------25% Rhythm------------------------------20% Blocking and Choreography----------------------15% Stage Presence--------------------------------------15%___ TOTAL: 100%
