How would you as a teacher trainer introduce the peer lesson observation?

Well, I would gather the trainees and explain the purpose and the mechanics of the observation, avoiding creating a stressful environment. Which observation tasks could be interesting for your trainees? Write down some ideas. We could do a set of questions to ask the teacher as if the observer was a student; involve the students in the observation by asking some questions during the class; the observation could be sound or video recorded; have the observer introduce him or herself to the group so the presence doesnt cause expectation or distraction of the students. How would you prepare your visit with the trainee? Which information do you need before the observation? First, let the trainee know they will be visited (whether you inform the time and date or not) and what aspects they must have fulfilled, have a grid or a checklist of the aspects to observe as well as a feedback sheet. The primary information to have before the observation is the level and lesson to be taught that day; previous evaluations to the group and class records may become handy. How long should the lesson observation last? I think 20 minutes is enough to watch the settlement and progress of the class. How would you write down your feedback? Create a feedback sheet which you could use for your future lesson observations. How would you manage the feedback--discussion? Write down the most important rules. Talk to the teacher as soon as possible after the lesson. Be very tactful and avoid to sound judgmental. Find something positive for a comment (the sandwich technique could be used; positive comment- negative but polite observation- positive comment). Be polite. What happens if the trainee fails? What advice would you give him/her? If it fails, options must be analyzed. Where was the failure? Was it from capacity? From outer conditions? The first advice for the teacher is to analyze his or her options; could be to be reobserved o re-trained if possible or do some kind of assessment. What can the trainee do, if he does not accept the feedback of the trainer? He or she could ask for another point of view or another observation by other trainer if reasonable. Is a second visit possible? With the same trainer? Yes. With the same trainer if its for follow-up.
