Ali used to live in an old house near the sea when he was young. He had a big family. He had 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Their house was big. It contained 10 rooms, 1 kitchen and 4 bathrooms. They used to sleep early on the roof on hot nights and . They used paraffin lamps. They ate a lot of fish, meat and fresh vegetables from their garden behind house. They also had some hens, sheep, and goats. Ali used to go with his brothers to Al-Katateeb. They learned the Quran, reading and writing from Al-Mullah, then they went to Al-Mubarakiyah School when it opened in 1912, but his sisters didnt go to school because there were no schools for girls.
