Fact Sheet – Boulderactive 2009


A national bouldering competition

What?
Boulderactive is an annual national bouldering competition organised by the NUS Climbing Club.
Opened to the public, Boulderactive is established as a key climbing event that seeks to provide a
safe and fair platform for climbing enthusiasts to compete and gauge their skills upon. Besides the
competition, it is also a time for climbers to engage one another, share their experiences and for
them to gain exposure.
This year, the theme of Boulderactive 2009 is Limit Break. The competition this year will be held
over a total of 3 days and is open to the public.

Boulderactive is strongly supported by the local rock climbing community and is at the forefront of
the rock climbing scene in Singapore, with past support from Government bodies such as Central
Singapore CDC, the Singapore Sports Council, National Youth Council and the People’s Association.

Boulderactive 2009 will be held this year at the outdoor space outside Novena Square Velocity

When?

This year, Boulderactive will be held from 20th to 22nd March from 9am to 10pm daily.

Finals for all categories will take place on 22nd March.

Reporting timings for the final round will be briefed after the qualifiers.
Please check out www.nusclimb.com one week before the competition for category qualifier timings
(isolation timings). Please report at least 30mins before your respective isolation closure. Order of
climb will be randomized.

Who
Featured Eligibility
categories
Under 16 Eligible: Climbers who are LESS THAN 16 years of age, .i.e. born after 31st December
1993.
Not Eligible: Climbers who have finished in the top 3 for Under-16 category for
previous bouldering competitions, i.e. Rockmaster, Pumpfest
(NB: These climbers can take part in Novice or Intermediate category).
Novice Eligible: Climbers who have NOT finished in the top 8 for Novice or higher categories
for previous bouldering competitions, i.e. Rockmaster, Pumpfest
(NB: These climbers can take part in Intermediate or Open category).
Intermediate Eligible: Climbers who have NOT finished in the top 3 for Intermediate or higher
categories for previous bouldering competitions.
Open Eligibility: Anyone who does not fall under the above 3 categories may take part here
Team Eligibility: Any non-open climber. Members must be registered for an individual event.
Each team must contain 6 members, from which at least 2 must be female. There can
be at most 3 intermediate climbers in each team. Team singlet/t-shirt will not be
provided. Participants are encouraged to wear their own school singlet/t-shirt.
Please note:
*National team difficulty climbers are only allowed to participate in the open category. Climbers are
allowed to register for more than 1 category. Should he/she qualify for the finals for more than 1
category, the category of higher skill level will take precedence.

How?
Registration

The registration fee is S$20.00 per person per category and S$60 per team.
All payments are to be made on event day. Only cash or cash cheques are accepted.

IMPORTANT: Registrations are to be done on an individual basis and are available via the following
methods

1. Online registration at www.nusclimb.com


Enjoy an early-bird-rate of S$15.00 (S$50.00 per team) when you register online
before 2359 on 15th March ‘09.
*Online registration will end on 15th March itself

2. Manual registration

To qualify for early-bird rates, registration forms must reach us by Monday, 9th March 2009.

2009 will be charged at non-early bird prices.)

** Teachers who are signing on behalf of their school teams are to register all team members individually

Note that slots are limited. Participants may still register on site during the event date, subjected to
availability

All indemnity forms are to be filled in, signed and submitted on event day during
registration itself. Indemnity forms will be charged a penalty of $1 each at the registration booth.
Note: Teachers who are leading participants under 21 years of age, please make sure that each of them has an
indemnity form signed by their parents/guardian prior to the event.
