EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION LEVEL IN TECHNICAL INSTITUTIONS A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF KITM, KURUKSHETRA AND HCTM, KAITHAL

INTRODUCTION Employee satisfaction is the terminology used to describe whether employees are happy and contented and fulfilling their desires and needs at work. Many measures purport that employee satisfaction is a factor in employee motivation, employee goal achievement, and positive employee morale in the workplace. Employee satisfaction is supremely important in an organization because it is what productivity depends on. If your employees are satisfied they would produce superior quality performance in optimal time and lead to growing profits. Satisfied employees are also more likely to be creative and innovative and come up with breakthroughs that allow a company to grow and change positively with time and changing market condition. Employee satisfaction has always been important issues for organizations. Employees are viewed as the greatest strengths and resources of an organization. An organisation's success solely depends on the employees. They cannot be deprived of what they deserve in return of their commitment to the company. It is very vital that the workers of an organization derive good amount of job satisfaction. Very few organizations have made job satisfaction a top priority, perhaps because they have failed to understand the significant opportunity that lies in front of them. TECHNICAL INSTITUTIONS IN HARYANA-AN OVERVIEW Haryana has a network of educational institutions. While a primary school is available within in radius of one kilometer, middle level education facilities are available with in a radius of 1.87 kilometers and high schools are available with in a radius of 2.1 kilometers. There were 11,013 Primary Schools, 1,918 Middle Schools, 3,023 High Schools and 1,301 senior secondary schools functioning during 2001-2002 in the State. Presently, there are four Universities and 214 Colleges with 161 Colleges of general education and 53 institutions exclusively for women in the State.

Universities: The Amharic Dayanand University (MDU) at Rohtak, Kurukshetra University at Kurukshetra and Guru Jambheshwar University at Hisar are exclusively for the promotion of technical education and management studies in Haryana. The Chaudhary Charan Singh Agriculture University (HAU) at Hisar being one of the biggest agriculture university in Asia is dedicated to agricultural education, research and development. The National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal has been upgraded to the status of 'deemed university'. NDRI provides excellent education in the field of dairy science and technology. Leading institutes for Technical and Engineering Education in Haryana are NIT Kurukshetra, University Institute of Engineering & Technology, University Campus (UIET, Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra), Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, YMCA Institute of Engineering, Manav Rachna College of Engineering and the Technological Institute of Textile & Sciences, Bhiwani. Earlier NIT Kurukshetra was known by the name of Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra. There are six universities in the state. Technical education and management studies are provided by Maharishi Dayanand University at Rohtak have a University Institute of Engineering & Technology, University Campus (UIET, Rohtak), Kurukshetra University at Kurukshetra, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology at Hisar and Chaudhary Devi Lal University at Sirsa. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY The objectives of the study are as follows: To study the factors influencing employee satisfaction. To compare the factors of employee satisfaction at Kurukshetra Institute of Technology and Management and Haryana College of Technology and Management. To give practical suggestions to improve and maintain employee satisfaction in technical institutions. HYPOTHESIS There is no significant difference between the factors of employee satisfaction level at KITM and HCTM.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY A good research design has the characteristics viz, problem definition, time required for research project and estimate of expenses to be incurred the function of research design is to ensure that the required data are the collected and they are collected accurately and economically. A research design is purely and simply framework or plan for a study that guides the collection and analysis of the data. There is never a single standard and correct method of carrying out a piece of research therefore I do not wait to start my research until I find out the proper approach. For the present research study sampling unit was employees of KITM and HCTM, Kurukshetra. The sampling technique used for the present study was Random Sampling. The sample size for the present study will be 70 respondents (each) from the selected institutions. The study is going to be conduct at Kurukshetra and Kaithal (Haryana). Data Collection In the study the primary as well as secondary data will be used. The primary data will be collected with the help of structured questionnaire addressed to the randomly selected employee of the selected institutions. Secondary data will be collected from the website and other printed material in the form of service rules of the selected institutions. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY The concept of Employee Satisfaction is an important aspect in todays competitive business environment. The present study will help to know the importance of employee satisfaction for a technical educational institution. The following variables reflects the significance of employee satisfaction i.e Enhance employee retention, Increase productivity, Increase customer satisfaction, Reduce turnover, recruiting, and training costs, Enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty, More energetic employees, Improve teamwork, Higher quality products and/or services due to more competent, energized employees, Employee will believe that the organization will be satisfying in the long run, they will care about the quality of their work, they will create and deliver superior value to the customer, they are more committed to the organization, their works are more productive.
