OVERVIEW
From Chicago to China, we're taking 20 Open Source technologists, investors invested in companies using Open Source tools, and entrepreneurs versed in Open Source powered business models for a whirlwind tour of three cities. COMPONENTS OF TOUR CONT'D: China Partners Tour has spoken with the following individuals and organizations about collaboration: - William Bao Bean, Managing Director of Singtel Innov8 VC Fund, founder of China's largest angel investor group AngelVest, limited partner of 500 Startups; - Liu Yan, founder and CEO of Xindanwei China's first collaborative co-working space; - Deverick McIntyre, Director at Taidal Media, mentor at Chinaccelerator; - Techyizu, a group organizing Barcamp Shanghai, Silicon Valley Bank Shanghai Demo Day 2012, Lean Startup Warmup Shanghai, Hackathon Shanghai 2012; - Ronan Berder, founder of Wiredcraft, organizer of Drupal Tour in China; - Liao Guohua, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun; - Tang Ying, Director of the Finance Service Office of the Haidian District where Zhongguancun is located in Beijing; - Wen Tian, Ph.D., Vice-chairman of Beijing Association for Science and Technology; - Jianning Li, Chicago representative of Tianjin Economic-Technolo gical Development Area Participants Tour has received initial commitments from: - Mark Friedgan, Infoworld CTO 25 for 2010; - Adrian Holovaty, creator of the Django framework, founder of Everyblock; - Chris Molnar, CTO of Apparel Media, co-founder and publisher of Lumpen; - Beibei Que, author of Lawyers in Modern China, co-founder of AttorneyFee.com; - Brian Ray, founder and organizer of ChiPy, leading Python developer and architect; - Harper Reed, CTO of the Obama re-election campaign, former Seamless CTO; - Dug Song, creator of dsniff, founder of TechBrewery, founder and CEO of Duo Security; and - Brad Wilkening, founder and president of DevMynd, a leading interactive agency. Conferences and Events Each city stop will feature a signature event, drawing conference participants interested in learning more about Open Source tools and connecting with expert American practitioners of the technologies.

Participants will recruit new contributors for Open Source. Partners in China will assist us with events and conferences in Shanghai, Tianjin, and Beijing. Core Mission Grow the Open Source community exponentially and recruit great contributors to author great tools for everybody, introduce Open Source principles to a new audience COMPONENTS OF TOUR: Visiting Shanghai, Tianjin, Beijing Nearly 56 million people live in the municipal areas of the three cities of Shanghai, Tianjin, and Beijing. The smallest of the three, Tianjin has a metropolitan population of over 10 million. Shanghai represents the financial capital of China, Beijing boasts Zhongguancun, China's version of Silicon Valley, and Tianjin is a city slated for great growth. We plan to work with Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area for events in Tianjin. TEDA hosts 4,870 projects with a total investment of US$622 billion .

Chris Molnar the CTO of Apparel Media leads a tech team that created a successful sponsorship sourcing platform, recently acquired by a leading US promotions company. Dug Song was a founder of Monkey.org a leading online resource and user group for OpenBSD, and is founder and CEO of Duo Security. In Michigan he founded TechBrewery a coworking location dedicated to technologists and entrepreneurs. Brad Wilkening is the founder and president of rapidly growing interactive agency DevMynd. BeiBei Que uses lean startup principles to grow her Company AttorneyFee.com. Her Company is currently closing a funding round with a prominent venture capitalist and entrepreneur. Press OpenForce Tour has received interview requests from Wall Street Journal, Technori, and Blackline Review. A documentary filmmaker will travel with the Tour. OpenForce Tour plans on pitching the story to Frontline on PBS and SmithsonianHD channel. SmithsonianHD channel VP of Production, Charles Poe, was a colleague of Tour organizer Don Sheu. Access to Dignitaries and Distinguished Chinese Leaders Tour organizers Brian Ray and Don Sheu assisted with hosting a distinguished delegation that visited Chicago from Beijing. Participants in this delegation included Zhang Hua (Vice-mayor of Tongzhou District, Municipal Government of Beijing), Tang Ying (Director of the Finance Service Office of the Haidian District where Zhongguancun is located in Beijing), Liao Guohua (Deputy Director of Zhongguancun Science Park), and Wen Tian, Ph.D., (Vice-chairman of Beijing Association for Science and Technology). OpenForce Tour is currently developing contacts with dignitaries and distinguished Chinese political leaders in all cities scheduled for the Tour.
