Role of IITrade in Capacity Building in the Field of International Trade

The Institute of International Trade (IITrade) was founded in 2005 with the aim to promote awareness about international trade and intellectual property rights amongst corporates, policy planners, and students. IITrade is playing an important role in capacity building at an individual and institutional level in the area of international trade and commerce as a nongovernmental organization and as an education institute by a. Equipping individuals with the understanding, skills and access to information, knowledge and training that enables them to perform effectively b. Providing consultancy to businesses and professionals in the area of international trade The Institute has been able to achieve its objectives and mission through the dynamic leadership provided by our Director Dr. Dhanpat Ram Agarwal and a pool of intellectuals associated with us as members of our governing body, advisory council, and faculty. The Institute has been an active participant in the WTO ministerial conferences, stakeholder meets organized by UNCTAD and various other conference and seminars organized by ICC, CII, FICCI and Assocham. We have effectively implemented our learnings from such experiences in improving our quality. GDP growth is directly linked with international trade and there is a huge demand for skilled manpower in this field of commerce, thus we provide hands on approach to students and executives to make them job ready and perform much more effectively and efficiently in their existing jobs. IITrade has been providing systematic and continual stream of knowledge and resource inputs in the form of workshops, certificate programs, and various diploma and degree programs in the field of international trade for students and corporate executives. Courses are planned with increasing amount of focus on the practical issues related to the field and with the aim of enabling quality workforce to join the domain of international trade and commerce.

The courses offered by IITrade are accredited, validated or recognized by their associated professional body, providing recognized qualifications to start or enhance career development. IITrade as a rich resource base which is being continually updated and supplemented with the most recent developments in trade laws and practices. Various workshops have been organized for reputed organizations such as the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), American Center, export promotion bodies, and chambers of commerce. In addition to these organizations, IITrade has also made a mark with workshops in corporates such as Kitply Industries Ltd., Barak Valley Cement Ltd., UCO Bank, and MSTC Limited, among many others. In 2008 IITrade earned an affiliation from the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) to conduct undergraduate degree programs. The most recent addition to IITrades repertoire has been the affiliation granted by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India to conduct capital market and financial management programs certified by NSE. IITrade is the first institution in India to be granted affiliation for the most newly launched programs of NSEs NCFM group of courses. IITrade has been the knowledge partner in the Global Intellectual Property Convention (GIPC), which is an annual conference with intellectual property rights as its primary focus. GIPC has now grown to become the worlds largest symposium of intellectual property rights and issues with participants from more than 200 countries using the platform to share knowledge and explore commercial avenues. IITrade has also liaised with the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) as its knowledge partner for a national conference on IPRs. Through continuous research and development, IITrade aims at bridging the demandsupply gap in these fields the growing demand for international trade professionals in the global economy and the yet under-supplied market of professionals.
