Population
Davao Oriental has approximately 486,104 people (as of 2007 census) with an average population growth rate of 1.19%. Population density is computed at 94 people per square kilometer.

Agricultural Products
Rice, Corn, Coconut, Abaca, Rubber, Banana, Mango, Livestock, Aquaculture and Seaweeds.

Industrial Products
Because of its tropical nature and beaches, tourism is rapidly growing business here. And with its large deposits of copper on its outskirts, mining is also contributing to the citys economy. Copper mining, wood production and furniture exportation. Aside from copper, Davao Oriental is also rich in gold, chromite, nickel, manganese, sand and gravel, magnetite, silica and limestone. Native Language and Dialect Spoken


The native (and official) language spoken in this province are Kamayo(also knowna as Mandaya). Cebuano is also spoken here, and Chavacano de Davao being spoken by the people from Compostela Valley and Davao City. Even some of the natives adhere to Christian faith (mostly Catholics), they are syncretic in some of their beliefs. Folklore beliefs include fairies (diwatas). Homes are usually made out of wood, with bamboo figuring prominently in many rural abodes.

Tourist Attraction
Pujada Bay This is a 156-hectare island located at the entrance of Pujada Bay in Barangay Lawigan. Sleeping Dinasour Upon passing by Mati Road, you can ask your driver for a quick stop to watch over the island's fantastic and delightful form. The island itself resembles more likely to a dinosaur fell in a deep slumber. Aliwagwag Falls Considered as the "longest cascading waterfalls" in the Philippines located in the middle of the forest of Cateel, Davao Oriental. It is also one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country. Dahican Beach Resort Situated within an 8 kilometer coastline, Dahican beach faces the Pacific Ocean that teems with rich marine Life.

Menzi Citrus Plantation This is owned and managed by Menzi Farmers Cooperative (MEFCO) but currently the mango plantation is being rented by the DOLE Philippines. Production is focus on quality fruits like

mango, pomelo, grapes and cashew. About 60 hectares is planted to mango, 30 hectares to cashew, 18 hectares to pomelo, and 3 hectares to grapes plantation. Mount Hamiguitan It is home to the world's largest pygmy forest with impressive flora that counts of a total of 878 species. Tibanban Island Wanna go trekking? Tibanban island is the ideal venue for that! A lighthouse was built on the top of the island for the purpose of warning for ships during at night. Aside from trekking, you can also dip through its white sand beach.

Waniban Island Pristine and crystal clear water, powder-like white sand beach, sturdy mangroves and cavorting dolphins are the major fascination dolphins are the major fascination and attraction of the island. Kawa-Kawa Falls Is the most bragged about waterfall which is located at San Isidro, Davao Oriental.Enjoy its 15 feet deep clear waters. San Victor Island This 3 hectares island is located at Baganga, Davao Oriental with powder-like white sand beach and lofty coconut grove. A perfect place for summer outings and getaways! Balite Hot Spring Located at Baganga, Davao Oriental. Hot springs are known to cure illnesses such as rheumatism, dermatitis, itchiness, skin disease, etc. Its healing power somehow attracts tourist aside from the comfort and warmth it gives.

Historical Sites San Salvador del Mundo Parish


CARAGA, Davao Oriental .For 128 years, the stone and wooden church of San Salvador del Mundo near a promontory facing the Pacific Ocean has stood as a sentinel against intruders from the sea and a beacon of hope.

Festivals , Fiesta and Celebration


Bauldayawan Festival Place: San Isidro, Davao Oriental Date: Third week of June The festival serves as a thanksgiving for the years good harvest. Baul is from the Mandaya word for farm, da is from dagat or sea, and yawan means to keep. Street dancing, float parade, agri-trade fiar and cultural presentations highlight the yearly event. Banayan Festival Place: Banaybanay, Davao Oriental Date: Third week of October It is a thanksgiving celebration for the towns bountiful harvests, rice in particular. Activities include agri-industrial fair/exhibit, cultural/tribal shows and presentations, ethnic/tribal street dancing competition, and sports fest. Sambukokan Festival Place: Matil, Davao Oriental Date: Last week of October Sambuokan is derived from the word buok, a Mandaya term that literally means one. Bonsai Festival Place: San isidro Date: June 12 A week-long celebration of the thanksgiving anniversary of the Municipality Kutoo Festival Date:October 29 Place: Cateel Pre-harvest ritual of thanksgiving.
