GETTING STARTED
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the InformaticaBGInfo (a.k.a InfaBGInfo) desktop wallpaper analyzer tool for PowerCenter. We have created a step-by-step installation guide as a reference enabling you to setup your environment in order to utilize the product. By following the steps within this guide there should be no issues utilizing the product as designed. As of July 31, 2010 there is no automated installer available. The installation process is manual but it is very quick.

USER LICENSE GRANTED

Purchase of this product entitles you to a single (1) developer license. If you have more than one developer which will utilize this product, you will need to purchase additional products/licenses to satisfy each user/developer. Please contact our Sales department (sales@fyghtsoft.com) as volume pricing is available. If you have any questions regarding your license or any compliance thereto, please contact our sales department.

PRE-REQUISITES
In order to comply with our standards as well as those of Informatica, or software has been tested thoroughly and rigorously. This software requires that the following pre-requisites be met in order for your purchase software product to run in a certified environment. Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (or higher) Connected to a network or Internet with a confirmed network access to the Informatica Server Informatica Web Service Hub configured and enabled

DOWNLOAD FILE(S)
Upon purchase you will or should have downloaded a single ZIP compression file based on the latest software version available. The name of the single file should be similar to FyghtSoft_InfaBGInfo_v<Version_Number>.zip. This file contains all of the necessary binaries and read me files associated with the specific software version release. Download this single file to a directory of your choice, ex: C:\downloads. Decompress the file using your extraction utility such as WinZip or WinRAR. The zip file is compressed at the root folder level so you may choose extract and the result will be the root folder, ex: C:\downloads\FyghtSoft_XMLParse_Function_v1\.

FILE INVENTORY
Once the file is extracted, expand the root folder to see the file structure beneath it. should be similar to the image below. The resulting file structure

There is no installation or MSI setup. The main program resides in the /bin folder. It is recommended that you either place the software root folder (the main folder that is visible when the zip file is extracted) into either a base drive (e.g.: C:\) or in the Program Files directory (i.e.: C:\Program Files). This however, is just a recommendation. The InfaBGInfo.exe can be launched from any location on your machine.

SET-UP & CONFIGURE THE WEB SERVICES HUB (WSH)

OVERVIEW
Informatica PowerCenter has traded in support for many of its APIs and flexibility seen in previous releases for one core mechanism called the Informatica Web Services Hub (WSH). Luckily the made a part of the basic Informatica PowerCenter license. Although it is included with each distribution of PowerCenter and controlled via the Administration Console the WSH is not turned on by default. This section walks you through how to quickly configure and instance of the WSH so that InfaBGInfo can execute properly against it. This document does not cover what the WSH is or how its internals work. For the latter please consult the Informatica PowerCenter documentation.

ACCESS THE ADMINISTRATION CONSOLE

Navigate to the web based PowerCenter Administration Console by either: 1. On Windows, select Start > All Programs > Informatica PowerCenter <Version> > Services > PowerCenter Administration Console, or Open a web browser, type http://<infa_server_name>:6001/adminconsole/ in the address bar and sign in. a. The default address is the server name and the default http port is 6001 (https default is 8443). Please consult with your Informatica Administrator if this default information was changed.

Log-in to the Administration Console with a valid username and password.

CREATE A WEB S ERVICES HUB SERVICE

If your organizations Informatica PowerCenter instance does not have a Web Services Hub (WSH) service running, you can create one or have your Informatica administrator create one for you by follow the steps below. If you already know a WSH service is running you may skip to the user guide accompanying this product and get started using the software. 1. Log into the Informatica PowerCenter Administration Console.

Click Create > Web Services Hub to start creation of a WSH.

On the prompt, enter the credentials for each field as required by the form.

Click the Create button when ready to continue. NOTE: You enter one Repository Service to initially create the WSH but you will be able to add multiple Repository Services after the WSH has been created.

The creation of your WSH is complete and you are now ready to use InfaBGInfo to retrieve metadata information and display it on your desktop.

ADD OTHER REPOSITORY SERVICES TO THE WSH

As mentioned in a note in the above section, multiple Repository Services can be associated with a WSH service and have their data references via the single WSH. To set up one or more Repository Services against the new WSH please follow the steps below: 1. While reviewing the main WSH page within the Informatica Administration Console, click on the Associate Repository tab.

Click the Add button in the far right of this page.

Enter credentials to connect to the Repository Service.

Click the OK button on the respective row of the Repository Service you are adding. 4. A success message will be shown on the page. You have now added a repository that is accessible via the WSH and the InfaBGInfo software.

CONCLUSION
