3rd Grade News

In Writing, we
will be writing legends to go along with our learning in Social Studies. Reminders . . . March 5 New AR goals sheets are coming home for you and your child to make the third trimester reading goal. This marking period has only 12 weeks. Students should be able to read at least a point a week or more to help you with your decisions. I have printed the report for the 2nd Trimester for you and wrote the goal for last time and what they actually received. I also wrote a quick note about what your child is working toward and what kind of books they should be checking out of the library. Many students should be working on one/ two point chapter books by this time, but we still read one picture book a week to our book buddies. Students have a special item they need to bring to school. They might need a little reminder to bring it in. Dads you may ask what the item is, but moms please dont ask! Thanks!! This special item should be brought to school after Spring Break.

In Math, we . . .
are all working on Topic 11. We will be working with two-dimensional shapes and their attributes. will be testing a week from Thursday.

In Science, we . . .
will be reviewing all that we learned from the Nature Center about light and sound. will be learning a song called: Sound is a Vibe by Bill Nye the Science Guy. will be doing a sound readers theater for a video conference with Pennsylvania.

March 5 -

In Social Studies, we . .
will be moving on to Statehood.

In Language Arts we . . .
will be reading The Garden of Abdul Gasazi by Chris Van Allsburg. will be reading our Time for Kids. will be working with homophones and competing online with several schools for LA Day.

March 6 -

March 7 March 15 - No School Records Day March 18 All Day Conferences No School for kids. March 20 Patricia Pollaco comes to MLE for a visit. If you want to order books from Book Bug the order forms are due tomorrow. March 25 Parent Teacher Conferences 4:30 8:00 March 27 All Day Read In

March 28 April 7 - Spring Break April 11 Science Fair (our classroom will have a display, but I encourage students to enter their own projects) The Poetry Caf Night on TBA. I know some of you need lots of notice for a school event so we are quickly working on a date. May 13 Fish Hatchery Field Trip 9 - 2 and students will need good walking shoes and a sack lunch. May 23 Girls on the Run Event 4:30

P.S.S. The students in our classroom have accomplished

17,062 problems on ixl math over the past three the

site weeks. This site has allowed us to independently practice all third grade common core math problems. I am so excited to see all the success from our students.

We have several students from the high school coming to visit and read to us, but we would love a few more friendly faces. I have all the readers on the volunteer calendar so if you see a day that works for you let me know.
