Handicap System
Fourball Match Play
The handicap of all four players is reduced by the handicap of the player with the lowest handicap, who then plays from
scratch. Example: Players A, B, C, and D have a Course Handicap of 5, 10, 15 and 20, respectively. Player A plays at scratch,
B receives 5 strokes, C receives 10 strokes, and D receives 15 strokes. In mixed fourball match play, strokes are taken as by
sequential order based on the score card. In the previous example, Player B would receive 5 strokes on the 1-5 handicap
holes based on the scorecard, Player C would receive 10 strokes on the 1-10 handicap holes, Player D would receive 15
strokes on the 1-15 handicap holes, and Player A would play from scratch.

Foursome Match Play (Scramble & Alternate Shot)

The handicap for each team (or team handicap) is determined by adding the individual handicaps. The team handicap for the
higher handicapped team is reduced by the team handicap lower handicapped team, and this number is reduced by 50%. The
lower handicapped team plays from scratch. Example: Team A-B with a team handicap of 15 competes against team C-D with
a team handicap of 36. The higher handicapped side, C-D, receives 11 strokes (36 - 15 = 21 x 50% = 10.5 rounded to 11). In
this example, Team C-D would receive 11 strokes on the 1-11 handicap holes based on the scorecard.

Singles Match Play

The higher handicapped player receives the full difference in handicap between the two players; the lower-handicapped player
plays from scratch. Example: Player A with a handicap of 17 receives four strokes from Player B with a handicap of 13. In this
example, Player A would receive 4 strokes on the 1-4 handicap holes based on the scorecard.

*The handicap system is derived from the USGA guidelines:

Rules
First Tee - 2 shots can be taken. Either ball can be played.
Tie - A tie in a match will result in halfing the point.
Rocks, Roots, etc. - If a structure is damaging to your club, the ball can be moved 1 club length no nearer the hole keeping the same line to the hole.
Sand - No moving (or touching) unless water is touching your stance or the ball. If in water, the ball can be moved 1 club length no nearer the hole.
Fairway - Rolling the ball is allowed (no more than 6 inches).
Rough - You can ONLY touch to identify your ball. Do not pick up your ball to improve your lie. Play fair!
Gimmies - Must be conceded by one member of the opposing team.
Cart Path, Sprinklers, etc. - The ball can be moved 1 club length no nearer the hole.
No carryovers - Holes are not carried over if tied. If tied, neither team receives a point.
Alternate Shot - Shots alternate throughout the round. If you sink a putt on the first hole, your partner must tee off on the next hole. If you concede Player
1's putt, Player 2 must tee off on the next hole.
Wet Ground - The ball can be moved 1 club length no nearer the hole.
Plugged Ball - The ball can be moved 1 club length no nearer the hole.

Accidental Contact @ Address - This does NOT count as a stroke. This applies to putting as well.
Two many clubs in the bag - No penalty
RangeFinder - Not allowed
Practice Putting/Chipping - Not allowed while the hole is still in progress.
Out of Bounds - All white stakes and anything the scorecard deems as out of bounds. Typically, this will be a 2 stroke penalty, and the shot must be replayed
from the original location. If you find your ball out of bounds and you do not want to go back to the original location, a 3 stroke penalty can be taken, the ball
must be dropped at the out of bounds entry point (if you hit your 1st ball out of bounds, the next shot would be your 4th if you choose to drop). However, if a
player hits the ball out of bounds, the opposing team may request a provisional be hit whether or not the player would prefer to drop or not. If a provisional
shot is requested, then the player must play a provisional. If the opposing team does not request a provisional, it is the players choice to play a provisional or
drop at the out of bounds entry point. Either way, the player will be hitting 4 - either from the drop or after the provisional shot. If a player hits an out of
bounds shot followed by a provisional that goes out of bounds, the player will be hitting 6 after the drop.
*Conflicts - All conflicts will be resolved after the round by the Jugtown Executive Committee (Mark, Jay, David, and Jim).
