National Coordinators Program (84.

184K)
Fiscal Year 2002 Grant Recipients

The following school districts have been awarded a three-year grant through the SDFS
National Coordinators Program. The National Coordinator Program Initiative will
support the recruiting, hiring and training of one or more full-time staff who will be
responsible for developing, conducting, and analyzing assessments of drug and crime
problems at their schools and administering the schools safe and drug-free grant program.
Research suggests that the presence of a full-time coordinator will result in improved
programming and, by extension, lead to improved program outcomes. A well-trained
staff member who is familiar with the research on effective prevention programming and
who uses the approach to implementation set out in the Principles of Effectiveness will be
better able to make informed and appropriate choices in designing and implementing
prevention programs to meet the needs of students in the schools they serve.
