SOLID WASTE WINTER REMINDERS

! Collection delays occasionally occur during the winter due to unsafe road conditions. As a result, collection may take place later than usual on your collection day or may be postponed until the next day. To report a road concern or to find out about delays call the Solid Waste Hotline. Material is to be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. Please avoid placing material out the night before if snow is expected, as it may be covered and then missed by collection staff in the morning. Please do not set material out for collection on top of snow banks or drifts. It presents hazards for collection staff and will not be collected. Residents with garbage bins or boxes are reminded that access to them must be maintained. A pathway to the bin/box must be shovelled for collection to take place. Green cart material will freeze in the winter. Collection staff is instructed not to bang/shake carts as this causes carts to crack and break. To reduce freezing place a few sheets of crumpled newspaper at the bottom of your cart. If you have any questions please call the Solid Waste Hotline at 1-888-873-3332.
