SECTION A: INFORMATION FOR 2013 KERRY LGBT FESTIVAL OF PRIDE PARADE AWARDS Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride encourages all parade participants to demonstrate their Pride by developing strong, creative contingents for the parade. This years theme is ............

Only registered contingents will be eligible for awards. Qualifying contingents will be judged for awards while the parade is in progress. Violation of Parade regulations before or during the parade may disqualify any contingent.
PARADE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS Deadlines
All applications must be received by or be postmarked no later than 5:00 p.m., April 31st, 2013 or delivered to the above address by 5:00 p.m. that day. No applications accepted after April 31st.

Confirmation of Entry

Receipt of registration does NOT necessarily confirm an entry.Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride reserves the right to refuse the entry of any individual or entity that, in Kerry LGBT Festival of Prides opinion, does not reflect the celebration intended by the parade, or the purpose or goals of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Community in general.

Placement in Parade

Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride members and volunteers do their best to accommodate all requests for special placement in the parade. Priority placement is based on date and time completed applications are received with special consideration for contingents with elderly, children, or those with special health needs. Contingent blocks set out the parade line up. Placement within these blocks will be based upon the special considerations first, music/sound amplification, type of entertainment, type of vehicles, type of business, etc. Once a block is full, this process will be repeated until the application deadline of April 31st, 2013. Unfortunately, it is impossible to meet all requests. We will do our best to meet your request.

Parade Steward Safety meetings.

National businesses, franchises, and third party sponsorship

Your contingent cannot be sponsored by or display logos or trademarks from, third party businesses or Organisations without the express written permission of Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride. Such permission, if granted, may include fees and conditions. Please contact the office for information. National corporations or franchises must obtain express written permission from Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride in order to participate in the Parade.
Throwing / handing items into the crowd

We know that many of you wish to give away items to parade viewers. Unfortunately, this encourages crowds to come onto the parade route causing a very dangerous situation. Drivers of motorised vehicles cannot see people who run in front of or along side their vehicles and could accidentally run someone over. This is very serious. Other parades have had deaths due to this very situation someone running up to a vehicle, tripping, and the driver not seeing them and running over the individual. As we get more and more viewers into the future who will bring children who are even harder to see when they run in front or beside a vehicle we NEED your help enforcing this regulation. To avoid this dangerous situation, we require that you do not throw anything from your contingent or in any way encourage viewers to come onto the parade route. What you can do is have volunteers walk along side the footpaths as your entry goes by and hand items to people do not encourage them to come onto the street in any way.
Performances in the parade

As much as Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride encourages its parade entrants to be as creative as possible, we require all contingents to maintain a continuous forward motion during the parade. No stopping unless directed by Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Stewards or the An Garda Sochna. All performances or manoeuvres must be on the move.
Parade Steward & Safety Meeting

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of each entry and all viewers, we require that a minimum of one or more for a walking group of 25 or more people and two to four representatives from each parade entry containing a vehicle or float attend a steward safety workshop.

SECTION B: PARADE ENTRY TERMS & CONDITIONS

Please read each item below. If you have ANY questions please contact Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride a. Parade theme: Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride requires all participating contingents to reflect this years theme, ......... interpreting it as you see fit, in an acceptable and tasteful manner. All contingents should reflect the theme through design. -Parade height for floats shall be less than 5100mm in order to clear overhead cables. All vehicles must be decorated this is the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride !! Non decorated vehicles may not be permitted to enter the parade route or may be placed at the rear of the parade. b. Signs & Banners: A sign or banner providing the name of the Organisation/group must precede each entry participating in the parade or the entry shall have the name prominently displayed on their vehicle. The parade position number presented during check in must be attached to your banner or vehicle window or carried by your designated parade steward c. National businesses, franchises, and third party sponsorship: Your contingent cannot be sponsored by or display logos or trademarks from, third party businesses or Organisations without the express written permission of Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride. Such permission, if granted, may include fees and conditions. Please contact Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride. d. Edge protection: All floats that enter into the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride should have adequate edge protection (i.e. a secure hand rail) fitted around any exposed perimeter of the float. e. Throwing, tossing or Firing of objects or items: Due to the danger of physical injury, insurance requirements and littering problems, absolutely no items i.e.: pens, sweets, beads, balloons, condoms, flying discs, pamphlets, CDs, Confetti, etc. will be thrown, tossed or fired to parade spectators from any vehicle, conveyance or float. Spectators must be approached by an individual walking with the contingent and an item given directly to the individual spectator, preventing spectators from surging or entering parade traffic lanes for these items. A 150 clean-up fee will be assessed to the contingent and removal from the parade for violation of this rule. f. Contingent steward: All contingents are required to supply at least one Steward for every 25 participants in your contingent to assist Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride officials while the Parade is in progress. Their primary role is to facilitate the movement and safety of your contingent in the parade. See the Contingent Steward Information section for additional responsibilities. Stewards will report directly to Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride. Any contingent without a Steward will not be able to participate. All contingents are required to send at least one Steward to participate in a Steward Safety meeting. Four to Six stewards are required to attend training for contingents having vehicles or floats. Steward meetings for applicants from outside Kerry will be arranged with each applicant. g. Removal from parade: Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride reserves the right to remove any individual, group or parade contingent from the staging, parade or dispersal area, who is, in its sole opinion and discretion, a hindrance to the safety or progress of the parade or who places any participants or spectators in physical danger; for motor vehicle safety violations, unsafe or illegal conduct such as drugs, alcohol or participation inconsistent with the aims, goals and purposes of the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride. This includes the right to remove persons from any float or vehicular unit which it determines to be overcrowded to such an extent that the unit may break down or cause injury to participants. h. Line up & Staging: A number of factors determine your placement in the Parade. Priority placement is based on date and time completed application is received with special consideration for contingents with elderly, children, or those with special health needs. We attempt to accommodate as many contingent requests as possible. i. Sound Checks: In an effort to be neighbourly and respect those who live near the staging area, contingents are limited to a 5 minute sound check while in the Parade staging area. j. Parking: Parking is restricted in the staging area. Tow rules will be in force. Please obey all parking signs. k. Marching together and third party reassignment: No contingent is allowed to participate as one or as part of another contingent without pre-parade registration with Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride. Any contingent crashing the parade will be removed immediately. Groups desiring to march with other groups must make this known on this application when submitted. No parade entry may be reassigned to a third party without express written approval of Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride. l. Forward movement, performances, maneuvers, and gaps: All contingents are required to maintain a continuous forward motion during the parade. No stopping unless directed by Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride stewards or the An Garda Sochna. All performances or maneuvers must be on the move. No stationary manoeuvres or delays while performing will be allowed. No gaps between parade contingents of more than 20 feet. m. Move on cue: All contingents must be ready to move on cue at the parade start or the next contingent will proceed. The delayed contingent will proceed only at the next convenient time as determined by Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride. n. Vehicle breakdown: Towing charges for any unit that becomes disabled and/or delays the Parade will be at the applicants expense. o. Political statements: Any political statements or endorsements made by participants in the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Parade are not necessarily the opinions expressed by Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride nor does Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride in any way directly contribute financially to the signage or display of these opinions. p. Nudity and obscenity: Nudity & obscenity will not be permitted. It is against the law to appear nude in public or to be exposed in a manner determined to be lewd, lascivious, and/or obscene. Violators of these laws will be barred from participating in the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Parade and could be subject to arrest. q. Alcohol and drugs or violations of the law: It is illegal to possess or consume alcohol or drugs while participating in the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Parade. Any illegal behaviours and/or violations of the law will not be tolerated in the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Parade staging, route, and dispersal area. You will be responsible for any fines, fees, arrests, injury, or imprisonment that may occur if you break these or any other laws. In addition, violations will be immediate cause for dismissal from the parade. Participants, who are found to have any drugs or alcohol in their possession or found to be under the influence, will be removed and their contingent will be disqualified from award contention.
Please discourage your participants from consuming any alcohol or drugs prior to or during the parade.

r. Indemnify & Hold Harmless: All contingents are required to abide by the rules and regulations as established by Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride. Each contingent is responsible for any and all acts and/or omissions on their part, or on the part of their agents, members, volunteers, and/or employees, which may result in any injury, illness, death or damage to them or a third party. Each contingent and each participant in each contingent shall indemnify and hold Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride and the Town of Tralee free and harmless, and hereby forever release and discharge Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride and the Town of Tralee and their affiliates, officers,directors, employees and agents, from and against all claims, demands, liabilities, damages, and expenses, including solicitors fees and costs arising out of any such act or omission of such contingent or contingent participant. This clause is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State. If any portion hereof is held invalid, each contingent accepts that the balance shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect. s. Liability insurance and valid drivers license: Each vehicle that enters the parade line up area and/or participates in the parade must have insurance, and the driver must have a valid drivers license, copies of which must be submitted with this application. These must be presented on parade day upon request from proper authorities. Failure to provide WILL disqualify the individual and/or contingent from participating in the parade. t. Safety, fire, and motor vehicle rules: The Town of Tralee Fire Department and an Garda Siochana will enforce fire codes, motor vehicle, motorcycle helmet laws, and regulations. It is the responsibility of each Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Parade contingent to know & adhere to these codes, laws, and regulations. Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride is not responsible for your failure to meet these codes, laws, and regulations and/or for being excluded from participating in the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Parade for violations of these codes, laws, and regulations. All contingents, floats, trucks, vehicles and groups will be inspected in the staging area prior to participating in the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Parade and monitored during the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Parade for safety and compliance with all rules and regulations. Violators are subject to being removed from participation in the parade and barred from participation in any future Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride events. u. Sales / Vending / Marketing: No sales may occur along the parade route without express written approval of Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride. Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride will patrol the route and identify and remove Parade Crashers who have not properly registered and are operating illegally. v. Right to publish: Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride reserves the right to publish this signed agreement, in whole or in part, in support and pursuit of its aims, goals, and purposes.

SECTION G: CONTINGENT STEWARD INFORMATION

You are required to assign one person, for every 25 people in your contingent, to be responsible for your contingent in the Parade. If you are entering a float or vehicle, then you will be required to provide a minimum of 4 stewards and up to 6 if available. The primary role of a Contingent Steward is to walk the parade route and act as a safety monitor for your contingent. This person(s) is responsible for knowing all parade rules as they pertain to your contingents participation in the parade.

Nothing is more important than your safety and the safety of our parade spectators.
All contingent stewards are REQUIRED to attend ONE training meeting. If you are from outside Kerry, please contact Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride at kerrylgbtfestival@gmail.com The person(s) named below will be the Contingent Steward(s) on Saturday, May 25th, 2013 for the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Parade. If a violation of the rules occurs, a member of Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride will contact this person before or during the parade to correct this violation immediately. If a violation is not brought to the attention of a Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride member until after the parade, the contingents contact will be notified so it is not repeated the next year. If violation is not corrected or if a further warning is required, your contingent could be removed from the parade or be denied entry in the future. Please refer to the rules contained in this application and in the contingent packet sent with the contingent assignment letter. This person also must be a participant in the parade. Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride presents the annual Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Festival for the public as an educational and entertainment event and reserves all rights as producers. Any reproduction, broadcast, or commercial use of any portion of the event, in whole or in part, in any form without explicit prior written consent from Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride is strictly prohibited. Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride may, at its discretion, film photocopy or tape any and all portions of the Parade for commercial use. I have read this entire application and shall comply with all rules, guidelines, terms, and conditions.

I understand that violation of any regulation is cause for removal from the parade. It is my responsibility to communicate all information contained in this application to my contingent participants and to insure all participants are in compliance with all rules, guidelines, regulations and laws in regards to participation in the Kerry LGBT Festival of Pride Parade.
