Casting, Plating, and Findings Information

All From War to Peace jewelry and accessories are cast from Peace Bronze, a remarkable alloy created using copper recycled from disarmed nuclear weapon systems. 95% copper, 4% silicone and 1% manganese (all recycled) are used in creating Peace Bronze. Peace Bronze is a lead-free, nickel-free, and chromium-free alloy. All From War to Peace gold and silver-dipped jewelry is cast from Peace Bronze, and plated using exclusively recycled precious metals. All From War to Peace earrings are crafted using hypoallergenic gold-filled or sterling silver French hooks. All From War to Peace bracelets are adjustable in length from 6 to 8. All From War to Peace corded necklaces are created using natural waxed cotton (no animal products used) and are adjustable in length from 16 to 32. All From War to Peace Rolo chain necklaces are 18 in length, and are either gold or silver plated. All From War to Peace Cable chain necklaces are 36 in length, and can be worn at either 18 or 36. Cable chain necklaces are available in gold-plated, silver-plated, or brass finishes. All From War to Peace packaging is created from exclusively recycled and/or biodegradable materials. The Peace Bronze Story

Peace Bronze is magic, transforming the most violent weapons ever created into celebrations of peace.

From the late 1940s through the early 1980s, immense quantities of copper were mined in Montana, copper that ended up powering nuclear weapons. Throughout the American Midwest, thousands of missiles armed with nuclear warheads were inserted into silos and aimed at our presumed enemies around the world. Miles of cable connected these misiles to U.S. military command, ready 24/7 to press a button and send us to nuclear Armageddon. Since the late 1980s, the U.S. has entered into a number of nuclear disarmament treaties, first with the Soviet Union, then with its successor, Russia. The U.S. and Russia have disarmed thousands of nuclear weapons in the last 30 years, but we still have a long way to go to reach a nuclear weapon-free world. 17

 Why? Because the U.S. still maintains a nuclear arsenal of 2,468 active warheads, with a further 7,000 inactive in reserve. Russia has even more warheads poised to shatter the world with unimaginable violence. In addition, China, Great Britain, France, India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea each have nuclear arsenals. South Africa remains unique among nations; it developed nuclear weapons but has since disarmed and eliminated its arsenal. The cabling connecting the disarmed nuclear missile silos was left in the soil of the American Midwest. This cabling, up to 3.5 inches in diameter and made of plastic, copper, and steel, was buried deep underground to keep it impervious to nuclear assault. The cabling is not radioactive and never has been. It is as safe to handle as the coins in your pocket or purse. From War to Peace has patiently dug much of this missile cabling out of the soil, recycled the metals into their pure forms, and used the copper to create a wonderful alloy we call Peace Bronze. Our creation is made from 95% copper, 4% silicon, and about 1% manganese all recycled materials. Peace Bronze is entirely American-made.

The Peace Symbol was created in 1958 by the artist Gerald Holtom for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in Great Britain. It is a combination of the semaphores for the letters N and D, standing for Nuclear Disarmament. Holtom also said that the symbol reflected the silhouette of a person in despair at the worlds rush to self-destruction through the development of nuclear weapons. It has become the universal symbol of peace, embraced and understood in every culture. The peace symbol jewelry offered by From War to Peace is the first time that the Peace Symbol of nuclear disarmament is actually created from disarmed and recycled nuclear weapons.

Mezuzah
A mezuzah (Hebrew-doorpost) is a piece of parchment in a decorative case inscribed with specified Hebrew verses from the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21). These verses comprise the Jewish prayer Shema Yisrael, beginning with the phrase: Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is One. A mezuzah is affixed to the doorframe in Jewish homes to fulfill 2 the mitzvah (Biblical commandment) to inscribe the words of the Shema on the doorposts of your house (Deuteronomy 6:9).
