Among the three bridges that connect the main island and Shikoku, Seto-Ohashi Bridge to Kagawa Prefecture is the first-built bridge and is considered as the gateway to Shikoku. It is the worlds longest two-tiered bridge. From the train windows, views of the Seto Inland Sea can be fully enjoyed. Famous local food Sanuki udon noodles and many art-related events are popular these days. People of Kochi are noted to be friendly and broad-minded, and the landscape and seascape of the Pacific Ocean are very dynamic and appealing. Yosakoi Festival, which is held every summer, definitely represents the nature of Kochi people. Also, Kochi is known as the kingdom of comics for producing many popular manga artists. Manga-related museums are also popular tourist spots.

Going up the stream of the Yoshino River from Tokushima City, youll find streets and dwellings that were constructed more than 100 years ago. As you head upstream, you will step into the natural masterpiece of Oboke and Koboke valleys. Going down the river by boat or joining in a rafting tour will allow you to appreciate the gorgeous landscape. In the secluded region of the Iya Valley, an old, private home-style hotel, established by Alex Kerr, can be found. It is also a good idea to leave for Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, from here, and stroll through the town of literature.

Zentsu-ji Temple is the birthplace of Kobo Daishi, who is one of the most famous figures of Japanese Buddhism. It is number 75 of the pilgrims route of 88 sacred temples in Shikoku. Iyotetsu (Iyo Railway) Established as the first narrow-gauge light train railway in Japan. It comprises the Takahama Line, the Yokogawara Line, and the Gunchu Line in suburban areas, and a city line running in the central area of the city.
Kotoden, a nickname of Takamatsu Kotohira Electric Railroad given by the locals, connects Sanuki plain with three train lines. The official characters Kotochan & Kotomichan are also very popular.

Oboke Torokko
The Yoshino River is regarded as one of the three great rivers of Japan, and is called Shikoku Saburo. The Torokko runs along this river from Awa-Ikeda to Oboke. Uniquely shaped rocks and the wonderful Oboke natural view of the ravine can be enjoyed.
Seiryu Shimanto
A freight train that has been remodeled into a Torokko train is simple yet appealing, and it enables you to enjoy the great view of the Shimanto River. Runs only during Golden Week holidays (late April-early May), spring and summer vacations, and limited days in autumn.
Shimanto Torokko
Mainly during summer vacation, Torroko train runs the Yodo Line (Shimanto Green Line). Feel the nice breeze and enjoy the beautiful view of the Shimanto-gawa River, called the last clear stream in Japan.
Retro Train
Three types of train carriages from the year 1926, including the 1000 series, No.120, were designated as the Heritage of Industrial Modernization by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2009.

Pressed sushi topped with fresh sea bream that has been tossed about by strong tides around Kurushima Island. This is a popular food of Imabari! Available at Imabari Station.

The combination of savory local Awa teriyaki chicken, famous for its juiciness, and white rice is just amazing. Available at Tokushima Station.
Matsuyama-zushi (sushi)
One of Matsuyamas local specialties, Mtsuyama-zushi (rice bowl with small fish from the Seto Inland Sea) is pleasing to the eye, and is now available in station bento style. Available at Matsuyama Station.
