The first kick-off meeting was held during 8-9, November 2012 in Amrita University, Coimbatore to discuss the objectives, scope, actions, mobilities envisaged under different categories(post-graduate, doctoral, post-doctoral and staff) and management. ISM has been awarded 8 Erasmus Mundus Fellowships (EMF) under the above categories in the fields of Engineering and Technology (mining, mechanical, Electronics etc), geology, management and social sciences. These are under Target Group 1 and to the ISM exclusively. There are scholarships under Target Group 2 and Target Group 3 in which other institutions and some disadvantaged sections can participate. Complete details will be hosted on the web by 31.12.2012 after signing of the partnership agreement. The funding of the mobilities for the 9 fellowships, as informed in the meeting. The project is based on the mutual recognition of qualifications and credits taken in partner universities. Considering the calendar followed in the European universities and academic offers that can be perused some minor changes have to be brought in our system for facilitating/realising these fellowships. It is expected that this will provide a global platform to our students to compete and persue research and higher education in the fields of engineering and technology, sciences and management in some of the best European universities.
